Hi Wendy, I had physio on my hips before my THR and they won't do anything you don't want them to... They will spend a long time getting a full history from you and then your symptoms and problems then will plan a course of action to suit you.
They spent a lot of time teaching me some excercises to try to build up muscle strength around my hip to support it. It helped for a while but eventually it got bad enough for surgery...
Don't be afraid to speak up if they are doing anything you are not happy with , if it hurts ect.. just tell them...good luckOur worst times are always our best lessons.0 -
Hi Wendy
I am also waiting for physio appointments for my hips and knees, but they are coupling this with hydrotherapy. Given your pain I would have thought hydrotherapy might be a better option, at least to start with, did they not suggest this? I am also interested in the replies you get to this post and just wanted to wish you well. Take care.

Wendylou,
I also have problems with my hip. I found hydro a lot easier than physio as the water is weight bearing.
I am now four months post op and initially they gave me hydro to help with walking and balance but now back to physio to build up strength.
Definetly look ito the possibiity of getting hydro.

Hello.everyone.
i had a app with the physo about my back and hips. 1 of the exersise's i was told to do was to stand on one leg the only place i can do that is in the water at the hydro.

Hi
I had very bad hip pain with bursitis, and an injection had not worked, so I saw the physio. She gave me some ultrasound treatment, followed by a course of acupuncture over 8 weeks ( on the NHS ) This proved far more effective than the cortisone injection.
