Hi, I have just applied for a Motability car myself, I have been accepted so am just waiting for my chosen car, my dealer estimated about 6 weeks because the adaptations need to be fitted also, but I am not sure of this, I will be keeping an eye on this thread myself love Jaspercatxx0

Hi,
I have a motability car...and it did take 6 weeks for it all to go through the 'system'.
You will get a letter from motability confirming everything with a code number that you have to give the dealer to finalise the transaction.
I have no idea why a code is necessary though.......I had to have my car delivered to me as I wasn't able to drive at the time so the magic 'code' wasn't used!
Happy driving when your new car does come...what did you choose? Iris x0 -
Hey,
See my dealer said it could literally be a matter of days as the car ive chosen has a realli light and shaped stering wheel (i was having a bad day wen i tuk it for a test drive and i just drove without ne pain and my hands didnt swell further) they amazingly had the colour n everything i was shocked! Anyway the dealer said literally it could take 2-3 days as soon as they got the nod because aparently they can use you "mother maiden name" instead of pin? N i frankly refuse to pay £87.99 if shes going to ring n say you can collect it monday!
Thanks for your replies

Hi Dorcas, I chose a Skoda Fabia with hand controls, there was no deposit either so that was useful, I love Skodas my old car is an Octavia, the garage is going to auction it for me, they really do have a great customer service love Jaspercatxx0

Hey,
Mobility gave the nod today Hurray! Just a matter of time now! I have choosen a Kia Ceed and i have to say the customer service i have recieved has been amazing, the dealer is really friendly and doing everything for me. We had to put nothing down but we are paying £150 for a dog guard for the boot so i dont have to worry about my lil jack russell!0 -
I got confirmation through from Motability in less than a week from when I ordered my car - A C4 Grand Picasso - but unfortunately there is a waiting list for thema s they are factory built to order  They estimate that we should have it in January or maybe February - not sure I can wait that long - it is our first Motability car - Cant wait to get it!!!0

Hey madness! that's really good news that the authorisation came through so quickly...you must have given the dealer a back hander!
Jaspercat...and ifeelninety...may be you won't have to wait as long either? interesting to see what cars people choose too....
I got my new mobilty car in May this year...the new Ford Fiesta....couldn't drive it for weeks though due to my wrist surgery..so it just sat out in the runway looking like a wee dinky toy. I chose the colour 'spa' which my son said looks like the colour of vomit! great eh!!
I have to agree it is a strange colour, practically everyone asks me 'what colour is that?'... could be cream , lemon, green..all in the eye of the beholder. Haven't seen many others of the same colour. wonder why?
anyway hope you all enjoy your new toys when you get them. lol Iris x0 -
I chose the C4 Grand Picasso in Icare ( sorty of lilacy metallic colour), because we have 2 children 8 & 10. Thought it would be good to have the extra bootspace ( for holidays - always stay in this country and drive) and the extra seats for when they have friends with them. We have a normal picasso at the moment and I really like the high driving position - so much easier for me to get in and out and comfy too on long drives.
Ordered it almost 2 weeks ago and hoping to get it in January or February - cant wait!!0 -
Hi, well the Skoda garage rung today, my Fabia arrived yesterday and has been taken to be adapted with hand controls, they reckon that I could have it before christmas, I hope so, they have taken my old Skoda to be auctioned so I feel a bit closer now love Jaspercatxx0

Thank you. I have missed driving so much its been almost heart breaking seeing my car sitting outside n noing i crnt jump in my car and visit my family alone. I have seen my couisen and her new baby twice since she was born in July because of not being able to drive. Any when i saw my couisen she wont let me hold the baby cuz of my weak wrists so i just smiled at baby who laughed at me last time i saw her! Can not wait to make it a weekly visit0

Oh you did make me laugh with your (5 sleeps!!) comment. Your excitement is contagious, bless you for being so up beat. I have no knowledge of motobility, never even passed my test, but just wanted to pop in here and say I hope you are feeling ok today and enjoy your new car and the freedom it gives you. How many sleeps! now?

Hello,
Well im back! I had the whole day out in my car. I didnt drive alday though because it made me tired. Its amazing to drive again and im very pleased with my car and independance, i went to see my couisen and baby today which was amazing and im seeing them again saturday! Im VERY pleased to say that my hands have not swollen once and my feet are doing really well although are sore tonight! The main thing ive found is id not set the headrest properly so my neck did hurt. But my dealer was fantastic and made the hand over very easy and showed me everything and made sure i knew everything and could drive off safly before leaving the showroom.
So, if ne1 is getting a new mobility car or a mobility or first time i HIGHLY reccomend KIA as a dealer and even more i recommend KIA for RA suffers i have found the car amazing the large ball on the gear stick made it easy to grip and easy to move!

Good for you. So glad you had a good day, and found the car to have been a good choice. Happy motoring, enjoy a bit more independence and lots of family visits
Take care

Glad you have got you indepence back.
I had my first car a few years back, I love the smell of a new car.
I thought I had got back some of what I lost, it's a great feeling.
It was not to last in my case, still, never mind.
Make sure you start to look early when the three years is up.
Happy Driving to you
