Hi, I've been of line all day as my computer caught a nasty bug. O/H thinks hes sorted it now!

I saw my GP this morning as I've been a bit 'off' for a while. We had a long chat, she realized that I haven't had a blood test for ages and apologized. I have to have a starving one on Friday morning to test for a whole hoist of things. She offered to send me back to the hospital rheummy but I asked what she thought and she said that if I had the tests she wants to run and they show anything I can go then. Or if I am worried about things and want to talk to an expert. She thinks at the moment they would be likely to just send me back to her. She is also ordering a bone density scan, which will mean a long wait, I expect, as the scanners are few and far between. The reason for that is my early hystorectomy at 30, even with HRT, leaves an increased risk of Osteoprosis. A scan would detect it before too much damage and it can be treated to stop too much damage. I'm not going to worry too much about that!

She said she will support my esa claim as much as she can as she thinks I should be awarded it and fulfil all the criteria. She said I should not think of work at the moment.

I suppose I am a bit worried - she said that my bone denisity level is probably lower than most people, due to early surgery. My main feeling is glad she is taking things seriously. I know that rheummies can't do much for OA that a GP can't do until surgery is needed, and to be honest, I'm confident that my GP is a better option at this point. If I have anything show in my bloods, that may change. I'm also having a diabetes blood test. Sorry I'm going on too much. Love Sue

    Hi Sue,

Sounds like you're going to have the works!...it's good that your GP is taking you seriously and that she is being so thorough & supportive at the same time. As you say, best to take it one step at a time; wait and see what shows up where and get the specialist advice if/ when needed.
It's understandable that you are anxious....but good that you are able to share what's happening with you and how you're feeling with folks in the forum who can support you. take care and get a bit of pampering from your o/h! Iris x

Hi Sue,i too had early hysterectomy(29)due to cervical cancer but i had my ovaries left.
Ive avoided HRT so far,i did have a dexa scan for the OP(soz cant sp)mine was just below for my age.So i was told i would proberbly be ok.
My rhymy did tell me that the ovaries had proberbly shrung to nothing now & proberbly stopped working over 6yrs ago.Hence being sent for the scan.
So it maybe the same for you.
I hope the rest of the tests come back ok.
Youve being given a good check over, your gp sounds good & very thorough.
    Best of with it all.
    luv debs

Hi Sue,One good thing, you seem to have a very understanding GP. :) I think if they take the time to listen to all you have to say and respond to all your questions, that in itself is a great help.I was on the borderline with my last bone density scan but nothing has been mentioned about me having another done.Do hope your resuts will be good. Love Breane.

I've just had a bone density scan which came back as borderline. They have suggested I go back for another in 10 years or earlier if I go through early menopause (am 43).

At the moment I just have to eat more calcium. Can't stand milk or yoghurt but am forcing it down on doc's orders!

Thanks for all the support. I had severe endomentrosis and it had caused lots of the organs in that region to stick together, yuk, I had to have both overies removed. I've just worked out that it is 22 year since my hystorcetomy, blimmy!!! I've had HRT since 3 months after the op but its never the same protection, so my GP thinks a scan is needed to be on the safe side. I have my bloods done on Friday and will go and see her again in 2 weeks, to discuss things.

I am lucky to have her as a doctor we sat and chatted about how things are and she has promised her full support for ESA and any help filling in the forms. The scan may have quite a wait, she said.
I'm not too worried, really. Well, I'll be glad when its over!

My computers not been too good, but I think its better now!

    Love Sue
