Hello Snowdrop, I assume you are having steroid injections. I've had them in both my wrists twice. Lots of people have them from time to time.

When I had mine they gave me a some spray to mumb the place and it feels very cold, then the injection. It didn't hurt as much as going to the dentist. In fact I'd heard the stories about it hurting and was waiting for the pain, but it didn't come and before I knew it they told me to go home! We are all different and also if you are very nervous you may tense up, which dosn't help. Its over so quickly, honest. :D Love Sue

Please keep your appointment Alli, and try to relax a bit. Before I had my TKR, I had the injections, and it didn`t hurt at all - truly. However, we all have different thresholds of pain, but, even if it hurts a little, it won`t be for long.

I also had the shooting pains you describe.......Good luck, and let us know how it goes........Ange.

Sounds as if you have a pinched nerve or something similar, but don't worry we all get lots of funny aches and pains. When I was eating, yesterday, I had a stabbing pain in my jaw, now that could be serious if it comes back and stops me eating :(:lol::lol:
Take care you'll make yourself ill. Love Sue

ooh I wished I had seen this earlier! I have had this done a lot in various places! lol Honestly it doesn't hurt like you would think, I think the thought of it is worse the actual injection. Hope you kept your app! x

    Ali

Tell them that you are really nervous. I'm a real coward when I have injections. So, I warn them and I close my eyes until it is all over and do my relaxing breathing in through nose and slowly out through mouth. It helps. I had to have a needle in my breast on Monday to take fluid from 2 cysts and I didn't feel a thing.

    Good luck.

    Hi
I had a synvisc injection in my knee about 3 months ago. It goes very deep into the knee, they move your knee cap over a bit and put the injection underneath it. I was very nervous about it and worke myself up terrible. However, it was over within seconds and barely felt a thing. I don't get worked up anymore. The way I see it is that thousands of people have them everyday, if it was that painful then the dr would give you an anaestheitic for the pain. It really isn't bad at all. When I have mine done I got pain a few days after I had the injection which gradually wore off and am only now starting to feel it wearing off a bit so will need another soon. I am not nervous at all about having it done. What is worse the arthritis pain or a scratch on an injection?!?!!
