Hi
I have been on sulphasalazine for 3 weeks and have been constantly tired. I am not sure whether it is the arhtirits that is making me tired or the medication. I alos takeprednisalone, celebrex and omeprazole and am wondering whtehr it is a specific drug that is making me tired, a combination of them all, or whether I am about to have a huge flare up.
I am been getting pain in more joints recently so not sure what to think.
Also, if anyone else is on this does the tiredness wear off or do I have to just put up with it???

My gp phoned and told me my blood trests were low in iron which would explain my tiredness, she also said that this can be an effect from being on celebrex so long and also prednisalone so they are going to monitor carefully.0

Loads of peeps on the forum suffer from extreme tiredness. It is a side effect of medication.I have been taking iron tabs for around 7 years and I still suffer from extreme tiredness but I expect it would be even worse wihout them.
Do you get disturbed sleep.I think this is my main reason for feeling so tired.
Best wishes

So does the tiredness wear off?? One thing I find that helps me is going to the gym but the last few weeks I have been too tired and so take a drink called pulse which gives you an energy kick, a bit like red bull. I don't want to keeprelying on these type of drinks as they are full of sugar etc., but if I don't exercise I find I get more stiff and my joints ache more. The hour I get to spend exercising I find I am pain free and it gives me a focus other than this arthritis. Should I just get use to the tiredness ? Had anyone got any other ideas on how to increase energy without the need to red bull and such???0

Hi Bailey,
Sorry to hear you aren't feeling too great at the moment. I have noticed an increase in my tiredness over the past couple of months and I think for me it is a combination of things - meds, winter and fibro and of course I also think the arthritis is playing a part.
I had found it very difficult while working to keep up and was drinking loads of energy drinks and coffee (and loads of sweets!) but I found the more I drank them the worse off I became.
Maybe you could try lightening your sessions at the gym just until you feel a bit better and then continue on with your usual workout after you have given yourself a bit of a break.
I always feel better after exercise but I also think our bodies tell us what they need so these days I sleep alot more and pace myself a bit slower than I would normally.
I hope you find a solution and get your energy back asap
