mmm, not sure about your message here Pauline. If you believe no-one on here misuses their badge by lending it to anyone else, then why would you feel the need to post this message :?

Personally, I am all for wardens checking out the badge owners identities. I cannot understand anyone who 'lends' their blue badge to someone else  And I think if someone is found to be using a badge that is not theirs then police/traffic wardens should be able to immediately confiscate it and the owner and illegal user pay a hefty fine.

If you genuinely need to use a blue badge why jeopardise your right to it by letting others use it?

    Hi Pauline,
they have been doing this for a few years in Uxbridge and they have the right to request to see your badge anytime and confiscate it if they feel it has been misused. Personally I am glad they are clamping down on illegal usage.
    Best wishes

    Hi
Very often people who are not disabled use disabled spaces and it annoys me. This happens all the time. I wouldn' dream of giving anyone my Blue Badge to use - it's sounds such a daft thing to do!!

I look like a convict on my photo!!! It's made such a difference having a blue badge. I'm glad I applied for one.

    Thanks for telling us!!

i think everyones being a bit hard on Pauline here, she is only giving a warning out, and as she has already stated NO-ONE ON HERE WOULD LEND...... but the thing is we dont have to be the driver and it doesnt have to be our car, we just have to be travelling in the car to warrant BB cover.
thing is there are a few laws about these badges, my mum rang me up the other morning because in the paper it said that if BB holders place the disc upside down then they would get fined...and i dont mean pic side up.
so anyone who wants to come on this forum and warn / mention anything that we should be looking out for...then i as one say THANK YOU Pauline and say to others...dont be too quick with the slap wrist comments :|

Pauline, my response was certainly not to 'slap your wrist' as Sally sems to have interpreted my post. I can't see anywhere that I was getting at you personally.

After reading your post, which you yourself say is a warning, my thoughts were:-

Surely it is only the illegal users who would benefit from being 'prewarned' about this situation:?:

And my whole point was - why the hell should we warn them they may get caught out :!:

    Abuse it = lose it.

They check badges in our area a lot because there is a real problem with ppl using other ppls badges, usually the spouses!

I would like to thank Pauline for the warning though simply because there are a lot of non-members who not doubt read this forum as well. We might trust those who we have got to know on the forum but I certainly couldn't say that about anyone who reads the forum but isn't a member.

    Cheers Pauline.

In November i had a flu jab. I had to ask a friend to take me to my doctors surgery. I had not slept at all the night before so i was in no fit state to drive. My friend had my blue badge while he was waiting for me. You can use your BB in any car not just your own. Had my friend been approached by a traffic warden would the warden have waited for me to come out of the doctors, probably not. This is an example of when someone else can use your BB legally. Brian.

I think the warden would have waited for your return just to make sure your friend was not lying. You werent breaking any rules.
