Cold weather and shoes

My feet have been so cold over the last few days and because the backs of my heels are so painful I can't get an ordinary pair of shoes on. I usually wear clogs.

Anyone know of any shoes which are very soft and flexible? Most of those I've been recommended to try have either seams at the back or 'extra' bits at the top of the back seam and I'm unable to walk in either.

Any help much appreciated.

Annie

    Hi
I wear UGG style boots. They are bendy and warm. also i can slide them on and dont have to worry about bending over to do them up.

I got a pair of boots like Uggs for my birthday, they're Emu brand, made of sheepskin, (cheaper than Uggs on Amazon) and really soft and warm. I usually live in Crocs and these are just as comfortable

Have you tried Crocs Mammoths? They are still the Crocs clogs but are fur lined and much cosier. You can get them in some decent shoe shops or through various online suppliers. Hope you get something to suit you, regards, Josie

I live in my UGGs. I find them nice and supportive around my ankles, as well as very cosy and easy to get put on. I know they can be expensive but I ordered them for half the price on ebay.

Again i can not recommend ugg style boots more than anything

I tried them after reading another thread on here on the young peoples forum

There warm, flexible and with a decent amount of support. Make sure you get ones of resnable quality you dont have to folk out for uggs to get this i have a pair of bearpaw £60 and newlooks own £25

I have a bunion and pressure hurts and this really relieves this.

Best advice ever just make sure you try them on in the store and only buy them when your happy they do vary

Thanks to everyone who has replied, I'm going out to look for something like Uggs at the weekend.

I should have added but forgot, that I do have problems with sizes sometimes, I take only a size 2. I find that a lot of the chain stores just don't carry this size.

Will go and look and see what I can find.

Hi Annie, you could try Cosyfeet, they do shoes especially for tender feet, and you won't get charged VAT if you say about your arthritis love Jaspercatxx

    Ohhh this sounds really interesting.
I've got OA in hips and spine but its not because of that. Last Dec...a car reversed, knocked me down, reversed over my ankle and then drove over it so both bones were well and truely smashed. I've got screws and pins in one side of it and a metal plate in the other. Up until recently I've lived in sandals. I've got hotter shoes {laced ones} but they are not longer comfortable on that foot ....no matter how loosely I tie them. I was told last week that I had arthritis in that ankle now as well {although its not really hurting yet} but because of the metal in my ankle after a bit of movement it swells up. I'm also due for a double hip replacement....first one to be done in Feb. Dont know much about it yet but presumably something that will slip on and off will be much easier... I must have a look around
    Thanks for this thread.

Hileena, in your case try Fly Flots. I've been living in their sandals and clogs for some years now, but I just simply now cannot wear any shoes and it's getting to be a real problem.

I think I will have to settle for a pair of boots of some kind, perhaps a size or so too large.

All those, Hileena. The insoles mould themselves to the shape of your feet when you first wear them, but remain soft and bouncy. I have one foot which is a really strange shape and they have always been so comfortable. I can't find they do a style without a back seam, which is why I'm having to look elsewhere.

I've got some really comfortable boots from Next, which are flat and made of a type of leather suede, can't remember what its called!
They are so soft though, and not too bad to look at! I have about 3 pairs of really nice leather boots with small heels, but I can't wear them at all! :? Never mind. :) Love Sue

Thanks for your posts...all i need now is the energy to fight the Christmas crowds and get out and have a look for some. I buy hotter shoes on line because I know what size fits me etc but no other shoes.....any suggestions of websites to look at things along with the prices?
    Thanks again

Have you heard of Fit Flops? They do Winter boots, which are meant to be really supportive. I'm not sure if they're suitable for people with arthritis though but it's worth looking into. They have their own website, I'm not sure if I'm allowed to link to it but if you google, "Fit Flops" it's pretty easy to find.

Just a thought, I find a half size smaller than usual with Cosyfeet fits me better - my feet are not really swollen but I need room for orthotics so my usual size is sometimes too big.

After reading these postings I bought a pair of Mammoth Crocs on ebay. They came today and I don't think I'll ever take them off they're so warm and comfortable. I bought a bigger size than usual because of the fur lining and they fit perfectly,
