Hi,
Is there anyone out there that suffers from Arthritis in the neck.If so,do you suffer like me,from constant headaches ( Pressure in the back of the head.) constant dizziness and neck pains, also perhaps blurred vision and tinnitis.?.
I have been suffering from these things for a number of years, and am now wondering if there is a link to perhaps Arthritis in my neck which is perhaps trapping a nerve.?.
Any help with this will be really appreciated,
Thanks.
Harry

Hi Harry, good to meet you. Glad you've found the forum. I have arthritis in my neck the damage confirmed by x rays and at times it gives me migraines. My neck always has a level of pain and stiffness but can get so painful and stiff and the pain sometimes radiates right into the whole of my head. When it's really bad I can get a migraine type headache every day for a few days. I find heat packs help a little on top of the cocktail of pain meds I take. I've not had tinitus or blurred vision 'tho. Have you discussed it with your GP or had recent x rays. It may be that something is pressing on a nerve.
Perhaps someone else will be able to help or advise.

    Hi harry

yes, I get the same and I saw my GP last week who said that it was the cause of my headaches and migraine. But I don't get tinnitus though. I am trying to find a good pillow to help me at night as I hope this will help. Another place where I have RA now!

Have you tried a wheat bag to alleviate your neck pain? I find it helps.

    Hi Harry,

I got spondy in my neck and it gave me horrible headaches and vertigo. The doctors put me on some stuff called stemetil and it has really helped and now, thankfully I see the pain clinic and they have really backed off. I do hope you will find some thing to help you soon as it really is no joke. Take care Cris

    Hi Harry,

My symptoms were very similar to yours and the headaches used to really make me feel like my head was splitting open and falling out each side. It was put down to so many things, not least I had a bad head injury when I was younger but since they been treating my neck the headaches are much better and I just get the vertigo now, mind thats horrible as well  Have you had any xrays an that done on your neck? Take care Cris

    Hi Harry
I have had similar problems to you, maybe not as severe. I have had pain in the neck for about 7 years, it comes and goes, but I have limited movement and lots of cracking noises which I hate.
I have recently had a bad flare up and doc said the bones were pressing on a nerve, he gave me co codamol and voltarol, which helped (made me very sleepy though).
I also get blurred vision and noises in my ears (more of a swooshing sound?) but have always blamed that on having high blood pressure, I also get regular headaches.
I have found that a special pillow helps a great deal, one of those ones that mould into the shape of your neck - cost me £40 but well worth it.
I have been thinking about trying acupuncture - anyone else tried it??

Hi, I have a oa in my neck and I have a pinched nerve also it causes a lot of the pains and headaches you describe, they think that I have a nerve caught up in a bone spur that I have in my neck. Mine was confirmed with an MRI scan. I also have nerve problems in my left arm, and I have to see a neurologist, as the plastic surgeon, who did the carpel tunnel release on that hand wants to make sure of the diagnosis before he carries out any more surgery. The hospital were very good, the young doctor who saw me, decided to call in the consultant as she was unsure what to do and he came straight in - no waiting. Then he sent me for some hand x-rays.

I think you should see your GP and discuss it with them, its been a long time comming on and you need advice now. Love Sue

    Hi Harry
I have exactly the same problems, dizziness, tinnitus, headache, nausea, painful eyes and bad arthritis in my neck. I had an MRI scan whcih didn't find anything in my head and was refferd to an ENT specialist. I had hearing tests which were OK and he thought it was either a trapped blood vesssel in my neck due to arthritis or menieres disease. My feeling is it is caused by the arthritis as it started when it got really bad.
I'm waiting to see another ENT specialist for more tests.
My GP has giveen me SERC tablets which help a bit so it might be worth asking for those,
hope this helps, keep in touch and let me know how you get on and I will too,

    Hi Sarah,
Many thanks for you're reply to my posting.I have suffered from these problems for the past 30,and I've lost count of the number of G.P.s etc which I have saw..I had tried Acupuncture to no avail as absolutlety nothing happened with that a far as any pain relieve was concerned,My blood pressure has always been completely normal so its nothing to do with that sort of thing...I was interested though, in you saying that you feel tired..WHAT sort of dosage is you're co-codamol tabs....If they are the 30/500,then thats probably most likely why you feel tired,as a 30 mg of Codine can, and does, make you tired,,best then to go onto the 8/500 strenth if that is the case.......
To finish off,I've tried all sorts of 'wonder' pillows over the years but unfortunatley none of them helped.
Thanks once again for your kind response to my posting,
    Take Care.

    Hi Maud,
Many thanks for you're reply to my posting, that was very nice of you.I have been suffering from these symtoms for the past 30 years, and I have lost count of the number of G.Ps which I have saw,it's now so exciting to hear that there is someone out there that is sufffering with the same sort of symtoms as I am.
My G.P. is very very good, and he has tried almost everything in the book over the years.I have had a mri scan...Nothing showed up in it,I had just came across that Meniers Desease two weeks ago,and I had suggested to my G.P. that may be the cause,he has now put me on a course of those SERC tablets..nothing happening so far with them.
The thing is.With having sufferred from all these terrible symtoms for years and never getting an answer to what is causing them,I am now also suffering from Depression and that terrible O.C.D and those things are compounding into a 'double-whammy'..( I am SURE that the depression AND the O.C.D. IS DIRECTLY linked to the Anxiety with not ever finding the answer to my health problems.)
Can you please keep in touch to discuss how we are getting on.
    Thanks once again Maud,
    Take Care

    Hi Harry and Woodbon
Just got the message from you and Woodbon. Please could you tell us more Woodbon. What sort of specialist diagnosed it and is there any treatment?
I'm seeing an ENT specialist, I think because they think it's a problem with my ears, but I think it's linked to the arthur in my neck. If you can let me know what sort of specialist you saw perhaps if I get nowhere with the ENT I can ask to be referrred to whatever sort you saw.
I had an MRI scan on my head so not sure if it would show problems in my neck also.
I'm sure any information you can give us will be really helful for Harry as well,
    Thanks a lot,
    maud

Hi Harry,Just read your thread and I too have been experiencing neck pain. :( I have both OA and RA and have noticed pain seems to move around the body. The stiff neck started a couple of weeks ago and since then I've also had pains in the head, not a headache as such but a stabbing type of pain that comes and goes throughout the day.I read somewhere that you can get arthritis in the head but I am going to mention it to my GP when I see him next Monday. The neck pain hasn't been too bad today thank goodness. Breane. :)

    Hi Breane,
Many thanks for you're reply to my posting...
I had only came across the Arthritis Care web site just three days ago,and thought I'd try posting on it..I have had quite a few replies already from some very nice people.( Yourself included.)..I have suffered from these symtoms for the past 30 years, and I've still not found the answer to what is causing them..( Hence me posting to see if there is someone out there that suffers from these same sort of symtoms.)
I hope you get some answers to you're problem when you visit you're doctor next Monday.
If you wish, you are more than welcome to send me an up-date,
    Take Care,
    Try and keep healthy,

    Hi Again,
I had got that Capsaicin Cream prescribed off my Doctor 48 hours ago,and I've used it three times now..The thing I want to ask you is ;....Are you suppesed to feel ANY sort of 'heat' from it once you have applied it.?. As I've found NO heat whatsoever from it?( So far anyway.)
Thanks for letting me know about that cream.
