Shoulder and Foot pain

I have RA and have had a sore shoulder since May.
I have had three injections into different parts of my shoulder but they did not help much with the pain neither did strong co-codamol, I have been getting physio for 4 months as I could hardly move my arm.
I was given amytripiline a few weeks ago and it has helped with the pain and it helps me to sleep but not taken the pain away completely, also still have some problems with movement of this arm.
I was given an ultrasound scan in September and it showed that the small joint in the top of my shoulder is were the inflamation was and that the bones either side of this joint had eroded.
I have asked the Rheumy doc and the Physio if I am going to be left with permanent damage to this shoulder and they always say that they don't think so.
They are now thinking about another injection going in through the back of my shoulder.
I had to stay off work for 10 weeks because the pain was right down my arm to my fingers.
I have been back at work for a few weeks but I am still on light duties.
Has anyone on here experienced this.
The doc has increased my mtx from 15mg to 20mg and I am also on sulphsalazine and Lodine.
Also lucky me I have a sore right foot at the bottom of the heel, the physio said it is planter faciatis(spelling) and there is a long wait to go to the foot clinic. I only have to walk a few steps and it starts getting sore and when I rest it stiffens up.
Physo said I may need a injection into my foot.
Lastly I have a rash on my face that my own GP said could be Lupus but the Rheumy said that he would send me to a dermitoligist but also gave me a leaflet for Hydroxychloroquine but did not say if I was to start this drug.

    Hi Mary
blimey - you must feel confused and disatisfied!
    leaflets and no explanations??
No chance of foot clinic apt for who knows how long and a shoulder which won't get better!
At least the amitrip is helping you sleep - without sleep it is all so much worse.
I don't have any answers, but would like to offer my support to you.
It may be that 'they' will even consider surgery for your shoulder in the end.
There are lots of people who have shoulders pribs who might have some ideas for you. The pain I get in mine is so minor that I would be embarassed to admit it
Hope you get some answers soon

Thanks for your reply, I feel as though I am going round in circles.
I have never experienced pain like the pain I had in my shoulder, Physio did say that the nerve endings could have been damaged.
Being able to sleep has helped because before I got the amytripiline I was awake most of the night with pain or just could not sleep.

    Hi Mary,

Sleep is important. Glad you have something to help you and though I can't help you as such I do have some damaged nerves in my back and neck and I wonder if it is worth talking to your gp about either Gabapentin or pregabalin? I take the pregabalin and for me its sort of a wonder drug where nerve pain is concerned. I hope you soon find some help and the pain backs down for you son. Take care Cris

Hello, Pain is a horrible thing to have to put up with all the time. With your feet being painful, it must make your mobility very hard. I hope that they can give your something to help.

Chris and Sue, thanks for your message. Even just speaking about all my problems and getting feedback from people on here makes me feel a bit better.
My foot is really giving me problems, it gets so sore and it means that I am trying no to walk very much and this is making me lazy, also with all the problems I have with my shoulder I have hardly been out apart from work. I have put on nearly 1 stone in weight over the last year and that gets me down as I am having to buy new clothes, I know my weight is the least of my problems but all in all I am really fed up.
The Pysio phoned me to say that I have to come and see her next Wednesday to see how my arm is doing and I know she is trying to get someone to see me about my foot so hopeully it will be good news fingers crossed.

    Hi mmarshall,
I am currently having pain problems in my left foot and sometimes right foot. I dont walk about as much as i would like, and I am 2 stone over my usual weight. It also wakes me up in the night.
I had my foot x rayed in November because it was swollen and I have a prob with my subtalar joint apparently. I am currently waiting for official results from the x-ray.
I have pain in my shoulder but declined a steroid injection as I have had worse pain in the past and wanted to see if it went as I had my methotrexate dose upped.Humira also helped with my shoulder pain so it is likely you may be prescribed different medication in the near future.
    BEst wishes

I really think good physios for shoulder complications are hard to find. That said some physiotherapists have specific training and experience working with shoulder injuries. [TEXT DELETED] for arthritis and general pain is in my view the safest place to begin and it doesnt hurt getting a second opinion too.
