Does anyone else with RA in their feet find that they can't keep them still?

It's just like restless leg syndrome, except it's the feet instead - really annoying. I've been Xmas shopping all day and am shattered but the feet won't stop twitching!

Ah-ha, yes, Wibs........I find quite often twitching feet will keep me awake, and it's almost always because I am over-tired. I find something calming - a hot milk drink, lavender drops on the pillow, anything which is a bit soothing usually stops it.

Thanks for that, my 14-yr old has lavender drops somewhere in her room so will dare to enter and have a search!

Do you think it's caused by the arthritis? I also find my inflammed bits really sore when I stretch in the morning - they vibrate :o !

Hmmm, caused by the arthritis? Well, it's not something I had before the first diagnosis and now that I've got two of them I'm expecting it to double!

    Dear Lois
For several years before I had the Psoriatic Arthritis diagnosed in my hands and feet, if I had walked a lot, like you, they use to be extremely painful.

I would be walking along and then suddenly, just couldn't put my right foot forward. It was always my right foot. Weerd sensation. It was almost as if my whole leg was frozen. Then, later at night, I was like you, with fidgity foot, leg syndrome. I tried everything, heat seemed to help the most.
I found taking zinc/magnesium help me and, you mustn't laugh at this, a banana. No, you don't rub it on, you eat it.

If you do have a foot spa, Body Shop do a Menthol Reviving foot soak with a cream aswell. I don't know what else to suggest Lavender is good too.
I've had to change my style of shoes too. Could your gp refer you to a Podiatrist if you have one. They have helped me a lot.
Do hope you get relief soon.

    Hi Joy,

    I had forgotten about bananas!

I suffered a lot with restless leg syndrome when I was pregnant and bananas definitely helped then - will add them to my shopping list. Thanks!

I've always had fidgetty feet, its especially bad at night. My husband despairs! My usual trick is if we're both curled up on the sofa he nods off my feet and toes twitch and tickles his leg and wakes him up. I don't know I'm doing it but it makes him really cross!!
My mum is the same and she doesn't have RA. It's meant to occur when you're pregnant but I'm now 5 months pregnant and had it before and its definitely not going anywhere! At the last scan the baby was wriggling like crazy and my husband has decided that it is a fidget bum too!
