Well I am sure I am not alone when i have a sleepless night. could not get to sleep for the pain in my foot. It have become all swollen and its so hot to the touch. It seems to me that this illness or curse that i have aint getting any better with the meds I am on. I must be a world champion web surfer. Thank god because if i didnt have some thing to occupy my mind I would go mad.

Well gang thats mt rant over
I wish everyone a pain/problem free day

Me too.I often wake up 3-4 a.m because of foot pain. I am still using crutches after THR in July because without them my back gets painful and my feet cause problems.
Generally my top half is fine and hips and below rubbish.

Hello, I wake up with pain in my neck and back, it used to be every night, but my GP prescribed amatriptylin which helps a lot. I am hopeless if I don't get enough sleep, my brain seems to turn to cotton wool, the next day!

I hope you find a solution for you, Love Sue.

does propping up whichever bit hurts with pillows help?

I find that when I am struggling to get comfy if I can prop my arms & legs with pillows it helps me a bit.

Also lavendar is good, and a hot milky drink before getting back into bed & trying again!

    Hello Handsy
Like you, I have had so may sleepless nights because my feet were so sore and the bedclothes made them feel worse. There was that horrible burning feeling. First of all, I have found Movelat ointment quite cooling. You can get it on prescription.
I have now found a way of keeping the bedclothes off my feet and legs. I've got one of those V Shaped pillows, which you normally use for neck support. I have fitted this pillow on the bottom corner of the bed on my side. Fitted sheet first then the pillow, and then a flat sheet next and then the duvet.
It's nice and soft, and keeps the weight of the bedclothes off your feet. The only thing is that I'm only 5.3 tall and my feet only just touch the pillow, but if you are taller, it might be a problem.
With arthritis in your feet/ankles, it feels like you have broken joints when the bed clothes are on top of them. You can always purchase a bed cage off the internet. Hope you get some relief from pain soon.

    Hi
Thats the one thing that never bothered me until recently.....sleepless nights. People would talk about waking up with pain in the middle of the night...I always had a good nights sleep although i was sore and stiff in the morning.
Now I'm waking up every night....not really enough to get up and on the computer but enough to make me feel lousey the next morning. Most times its my hip or both hips.....
This has been happening constantly for a bout 3 weeks now and I feel absolutely dreadful......not just the pain but the lack of sleep and I just dont know what to do.
