    Hi Alli
I got turned down the first time too, but remember that when you fill in the form to do it as if it was your worse day ever. Also any extra forms or graphs from your consultant and GP helps too, especially when it shows how much pain you are in.
    Good Luck

    Hi Ali
Good luck with your new claim to the DLA. Make sure you get your GP to back you up with maybe a letter outlining details of your incapacity.

Having a blue badge will make things a little easier for you.

Take care and have a good weekend.

Hello, Nice to hear of someone getting the thing that they need! I hope that if you apply for DLA again, you are sucessful. Their is a useful sight that tells you about the how to answer the questions when you go for a medical I can't remember the exact name it e-mails me with new updates every so ofter and uses the name Work and Pensions. Somelse may know the exact name, or just type Work and Pensions into Google and see what you get! :) Love Sue

You may be able to get Disability Living Allowance if you are aged under 65 and.... have had walking difficulties because of a physical or mental disability for three months, and you are likely to need this help or have these difficulties for at least another six months.

    Hi Joseph
The main reason I did apply was that I'm 63 and I know you dont get it after 65....but it sounded as if I needed to be practically immobile before they would give it to me. The North East is very hilly and I cant walk very far.....I was told by them that didnt matter they took it as ....how far could I walk on the flat? I must admit I dont need any of their other help.....eg dont have someone to guide me etc. My Ortho in his letter to my GP said very sever arthritis {dhr} but they say the diagnosis doesnt matter its what I can do and what I cant?
So where do I go from here??????

When I was at the GP's about my sore eyes I said to hime I take it you have gathered I didnt get my DLA and he said yes.,.....I didnt expect you to. Your mobility is much worse and you need hip replacements yes.....but you need to have someone to look after you eg guide you, turn you over in bed, get medicines for you before they will consider you.
I need my husband to help with certain housework...eg vac. sweeping....anything down low or up high and I do have to pace myself...can only do things in short bursts then stop. But apart from that and not being able to walk very far thats all I can say and apparently its not enough. In that case I'm glad I dont need it.LOL

    Hi Hileena,

I don't agree with what your doc said...and don't see why you should not getr DLA given your mobility probs etc...

think you would be better getting CAB to do the forms as there definitely is a knack to filling them out.

really important to get DLA before you are 65 as you know. Give it another try..what have you got to lose by applying?

    good luck Iris x
