Pain control meditation

Hi Guys,
This might help if you are into this kind of thing, but anything to help
Make sure that you are sitting comfortably with your back well supported and your feet on the ground.
Have your hands in your lap, and if needed a blanket over you to make sure you keep warm.
Have a drink of water close by.
You might like to play some soothing music at the same time.
It’s your choice.
Close your eyes,
Take a couple of deep breaths
Inhale……….Exhale……….
Inhale……….Exhale……….
Now imagine that there is a bright light at every part of your body which is painful or swollen.
Starting at the top of your body think of this light as being on a dimmer switch and turn it down very slowly imagining the pain moving down your body to the next bright light.
Look at the next light and turn it down again very slowly again moving the pain down to the next lower light, and continue until you have turned down every bright light to either a dim light or you managed to turn off each one completely.
Now think of the pain as moving down through the rest of your body and leaving through you toes.
Just imagine all that pain going into the earth and being taken away by Mother Nature.
In your minds eye, look at your body and just check that every brightly lit area that was in pain or swollen is now a dim light or switched off completely.
Sit quietly for a few moments and then vey gently
Inhale…….Exhale……
On each exhale become aware of sitting in your chair and being in your room
Inhale……Exhale…….
Inhale……Exhale……
And open your eyes. Smile and have a drink of water.
I hope that this helps.
If anyone has any questions about this or any meditation I’d be only too pleased to help.

Hi Harmony
I'm going to try this tonight before bed. Sounds lovely.... with the combo of my 3 amitryptlines I should be fairly relaxed and pain free until the morning!!!
Wouldn't it be nice if we could all get together and have a party? Most people on this site are friendly, kind, sympathetic and lovely!

It's a wonderful way of relaxing, I learned from a Buddhist teacher in a local church hall and helped me a great deal when I was having a lot of trouble at work.
That reminds me I must contact my teacher again as one of his fellows was trying to develop a mediation sequence to combat pain.
Hi Dellboy,
I teach meditation in small classes 3 times a week, and I find that it really helps me to relax, and the meditation above has been helpful in seeing the pain and focusing on it fading/going.
Meditation doesn't work for everyone, and it won't cure, but it will help.
