ok last night we had night out from work so after working the after noon it was home to get changed and go to resterant in town walked up as knew would be sat for hours and find that hard, the chairs were hard wooden ones so hips were painfull ans sitting was hard lol. the food was bit on the bland side was not drinking as have had flare up and still getting a lot of pain. a band started playing as we finnished the meal well u could feel the drums but could only make out the odd word so left just after 10. could not sit any longer walked as needed to or would not have slept with the pain lo.l think they thought i should have had a lift, but hate taking lifts off people. like to walk if possible, if not late and safe to do so am i wrong in thinking this way i know i like to do things my way and try to put others first if need be but why should i not do what i want to when no one else can be hurt by my actions and i know it what best for me i live with this arther and live with what it might bring in the future so make the most of what i can do and push my self to keep doing it. why do i feel less and less like going out in the evening is it because by then feeling the aches and pains who knows ?

Hi Val
Glad you are back :!: :!: We were sending out search parties for you :!:
I know the problems of sitting on hard chairs for any length of time, and you feel a bit silly taking a cushion with you to a restaurant, although I have been known to do that.
I think you are right to do things your way. You know how you feel, and what is best for you.

Hi Val
I can understand you wanting to walk especially after sitting for a while. I would have done the same. I guess it made your evening out a bit disappointing but people who know you would surely try a bit harder to understand.
Hope it doesn't put you off going out. I guess they may just have been worried about you walking on your own even though it wasn't too late.
take care

I now do exactly as I feel Val; I point out that I can go out, but only on my terms! I've been known to go outside and pace up and down the pavement at midnight to try and get the kinks out of my knees! OH says I'll get arrested soon! Well, once they see me in the light, they won't keep me at the police station long!

Valval, that was a brilliant self management approach to
your personal situation and self management is far and away
the best tool we have to cope with arthritis and the other
blips in our lives.
Can you tell I'm a volunteer tutor with the AC self management

Va
Just do wha you can do, it's no good, trying to keep up with others, you would be suffering not them.
That is all you can do.
You never know what they will be like later in life.
I'm so glad we got you back. I'm going to ring HP and tell them off making our mate wait.
I was worried that you might have been really bad.

It' sad when any trip out can become an ordeal. I have been known to go for walks outside (rather than keep getting up and going to the lou the whole time) Legs start fidgeting, then back starts and then hips or everything at the same time. Then there are the tablets, which are best taken at home. Then having to explain why you do not want an alcoholic drink. Why can't people just accept NO for an answer.
We are going to Norfolk next week and I don't know if any of you are like me, but dread having to sleep in a different bed.. Any bed away from home is a torture. Travelling won't be so bad because I have a heater built into my seat in the car. Wonderful luxury.
Anyway, I have had my moan. see you tomorrow.

Me too Joyful, absolutely hate staying in different bed even at home I must sleep in my own bed whatever!
I will be staying away at Christmas. Their is one good bed, but they have now put the babies cot in this room alongside the bed,but I cannot sleep anywhere else.I will have to make sure the room is reinstated but then I will look vindictive or moaning.Or they will tell me it is sorted and when we arrive it wont be(that often happens). One year they gave me a bed base to sleep on and no mattress.I was in extreme pain!
I will get prepared for the battle ahead!

I have a works' do this Friday, next Wednesday lunchtime and next Friday afternoon (that one's a drinking session).
You should all work for the fire service - most firemen have quite comfortable laps to sit on :-P
I don't know how I'm going to manage all 3 and then a night out with the staff and governors at my girls' school, but I suppose I shall sit down a lot and take a pair of flat shoes to change into. Oh and try to have a nap before I go out, that always helps.
I would have a lie in but my hubby's usually cross with me the next day for getting home in a state (drunk) and makes me get up with the girls the next morning. He doesn't mind me drinking, it's when I can't get the key in the lock and then fall into the doorway when I get home that's the problem!
