Can anyone help? I had a bi-lateral TKR on the 2nd of April this year and everything went well since September i have had pain in left knee and are now having to take anti-inflams and painkillers. The right knee is also giving me pain though not as bad. I have asked to see the surgeon but have been told I have to wait till Feb next year. I was told he couldn't say for sure I would have no pain but it is getting worse and I was so good! thanks Anne

    Hi Anne

I will need 2 total knee replacement surgeries. The first surgery I hope will be done in the New Year. The worse leg was the left but the right is now worse than that was! You must be feeling very uncomfortable.

I think you need to see your GP again for a referral. I used to be able to manage outdoors on my crutches but even that is now impossible.. I'm collecting a wheelchair tomorrow so I can at least visit the shops (you have to get a referral from your GP or OT).

Fingers crossed you'll find refief soon.

    Take care.

    Hi Anne

Wow, you were brave to have both done at the same time! I had one done 2 years ago and am in again in the new year for the other one. I had pain and sleepless nights for weeks and weeks. I had a great knee bend though  :D It does take a long time to get over for most people and with them both done at the same time, could well take longer.

I really think you should try and push for an earlier appointment, easier said than done. The consultant is the only one who can really tell you what is going on with your knees.

It does seem odd that you were getting on so well and now it seems, as you say, not to be going too well for you.

I do hope you get an earlier appointment. February is a long way away.

    Luv

Hi Anne and welcome to the forum,

I had bi-lateral TKRs nine years ago and have never looked back. I can't understand why things went well for you to start with and now you seem to be going downhill.

Have you been overdoing it and expecting too much?

Have you been doing the exercises you were advised to do?

This doesn't sound right, I, too, agree with the others you should see your GP to see what he/she thinks and see if they can push to get your appointment brought forward.

    Luv Legs :)

Thanks for the replies my GP has seen me and written to the surgeon about 3 weeka ago but I have not had even a new appt. Am contacting my GP again. My knee bends are fine i seem to have the same knees i had before surgery though not as painful! I have been told I cannot overdo things at this stage indeed after 6 weeks i should get stronger which I did and that came from the surgeon himself! So will let you all know what happens, at the moment I am just struggling on at work and feeling pretty fed up I know I am better than I was but thought I would stay as I was in early october. Perhaps my kneecaps are gone they weren't replaced though i was told the left one had had it! thanks to everyone for listening
