Hi all, hope you're all well.

You may remember a while ago i went through a really bad time and the nurse done a blood test to see if it was meds causing the depression and tiredness.

Well the results show that i have an overactive thyroid and that is why i feel so tired and have trouble loosing weight. So i now have another pill to add to the other 5 types i already take but at least i am getting some answers.

It's always a relief when things begin to add up. I think they may take a while to kick in, but it's always heartening to get the answers.
By the Spring, you'll be able to go out and push a bus over!

Hi, Well, I know that its a pain having yet more medication to take, but at least now you know whats happening and it is a simple thing to put it right. My husband is the same, hes diabetic and on one of his regular blood tests, they discovered his underactive thyroid. He seems much less sleepy in the evenings and more likely to want to do things, but he says its not made any difference, but I know what I see and hes much better, no matter what he says.!!!

    Hi Carol

It is good that you have had some answers even if you have to take thyroxine daily. If you are tired and not able to lose weight, isn't that an underactive thyroid? You will be taking the thyroxine to top it up, to work properly.

I have been taking thyroxine for nearly 33 years

No, sadly he died when he was 52. I did wonder if you meant under active thyroid - I haven't been on thyroxine as long as Elna, but it must be 15 years now. It definitely does make a difference, although it did take them quite a while to find the right dose for me. Once they did - no problems since, it's reviewed every six months and I last went up a little about 2 years ago.

    Hi Carol
At least you know and the medication will help you. My mum developed thyroid trouble in her late 60s and now has to take medication daily. Thank goodness you had the blood test.

Take care and hopefully you'll feel more energetic soon!!!

    Hi Carol

    On the bright side
I think you will get fee prescriptions from now on, I'd check it out with the doc or his receptionist. Jerry would get free scripts, but, he already has them for diabetes. I suggested that I could use his free script card, but he didn't think it worked that way!!!
