Hi, Well for the first time ever it has taken me ages to get in the christmassy mood. I'm the one who used to start present-buying in September!

(I think its because 2009 hasn't been a very good year for us healthwise).

BUT - went out with friends for a 'Christmas Dinner' last week; and a group of us went the theatre the other night and finished off the evening with champayne. It was a fabulous, laughter-filled night.

So I'm sitting here, carols playing, and that lovely warm christmassy feeling is returning.

Bring it on h010.gif

I am really struggling, but I WILL get there. Somehow, I always do.

This is my ninth Christmas without my precious Frank, and it`s still as hard as ever. Tears are never far away. Memories are everywhere.

By the time I get to Christmas week, I`ve usually found my "outdoor face", in time for the family arriving, bringing all their special love.........Ange.

    Ange,
I'm sorry xmas is such a hard time for you, but I'm glad you've got family around you.

It's hard not to feel xmassy with my girls all excited about the school xmas dinner, the carol service and what they're getting for xmas. They put the tree up at the weekend and it looks like the usual car wreck but I wouldn't have it looking any other way.

I have my xmas nights out coming up and we're going to see Cinderella on 23rd December. I'm also going to see some friends and my favourite aunt over xmas, so lots to look forward to.

Jan, I so hope things get better for you, hope your daughter is OK. Is it your first grandchild? My daughter's got 4 and I think I went through all her labours with her although she never knew.

Jeez, I get worse every day! I just posted that before I was halfway through.

What with one thing and another, I haven't felt Christmassy at all so far this year. I'm working up to it now and think I might feel very Christmassy by the time the weekend comes.

Hi Ange - no words, just lots of (((((((())))))))

I am trying very hard to feel Christmassy this year - I have even tarnished my 'Humbug' reputation by going and buying Christmas lights  - but I am just not feeling it so far.

I have had loads of crazy stuff going on over the past few weeks , I am looking forward to starting afresh on January 1st.

Hope you are all enjoying the festive season :) x

i am very much christmassy this year. It has been such a bad year that i will be glad to see the back of it.

2009 has bought the death of 2 very close friends, my sister-in-law is dying of cancer and we don't know how long she has left, my dad was diagnosed with cancer and is currently fighting it, my younger brother found himself on the wrong side of the law and done 6 weeks inside, i got my arthur diagnosis and suffered depression.

I for one, will be saying good riddance to 2009!

Hi Carol, Yes I agree, I too will be glad when 2009 is over - hoping 2010 is going to be a good year. To be honest I don't care for New Years Eve celebrations, it always seems an anti-climax somehow.

Talking here about 'christmassy feelings', hey rehab your change of plan sounds very good, hope it goes accordingly b032.gif

Has anyone else had the problem I'm having..........mince-pies calling out to me "eat me, eat me" and a bottle of sherry doing the same?

Yes, I am among those who will be glad to see the back of 2009. Hopefully the Spring will bring us a new start in a new place and some improvement in my health.

I'm beginning to feel very Christmassy indeed, and mine starts next Tuesday with a work lunch and pressies!

I'm usually very Bah Humbug, especially since my grandchildren disappeared to the other side of the world, but this year I'm welcoming it!

Really sorry to hear about his father :( Sending all well wishes to you all.

    50/50 with feeling Chrismassy.

Yes, mainly cause of the reindeer soft toy that's sat on the back of our settee. And the advent calendars  Also can't wait to have the chance to see the Scrouge movie with Patrick Stewart in. As soon as I've watched that I feel chrismassy  And the Muppet's Christmas Carol too (I LOVE movies  )

And no cause I just don't feel much chrismassy
Kind of tired of the xmas songs already  They've been playing them since November  And the channels on the TV that are only showing the xmas movies. Right now, The Grinch is my favourite xmas movie

Am trying hard but Christmas won't start for me until the 21st this year. I usually manage to get time off work and go to my sis and family for nearly 3 weeks. The thought of it often gets me through a boring year. I usually love the run up to Chrimbo and all the silliness with the family. This year however it will be a short hol.

I am just about hanging onto 2 part time jobs.
It is so quiet at the factory now that the boss ( the good one) loves us to take leave about now. I finished there on Wednesday. However my evil boss at the shop has decreed that unless you are dead NO ONE is allowed to take leave before Christmas this year which means I have to work Sunday 20th. ( I only do Sundays there and have never missed one off sick in 7 years!) I so wish I could afford to tell her where to stick her job! :x

Sorry guys I don't like to rant especially at this time of year but I needed to get that down, it has really peed me off and I don't feel Christmassy at all yet.
    Any advise?
    Chris

The Christmas proper will kick off next week for me, a lunch with my Tai Chi group and some friends that I trained on a Arthritis Care course last year

Shopping other than foodstuffs all done and dusted, Turkey to pick up from the farm on the 21st, fresh veg on the 23 (is that still fresh?)

Christmas seems to be alll abou the one day, the 25th, brekkie, pressies, lunch, feet up, telly, snacks and booze and that's it. Change of plan for the Rehab mob, Christmas Dinner on the 24, leaving Christmas day for a big brekkie, present opening and all day with the daughter and grandkids instead of me being stuck in the kitchen on Christma day. Well thats the plan anyway :D

Sure - my OH wouldn't know where the cooker is, but I have one brother-in-law who does all the cooking and two sons-in-law who both do more cooking than their wives do (teaching them to cook was a bit of a no-no. Remind me to tell you about the stew on the ceiling sometime).

    Hello Angel
I think friends tell you that it will get better, but at times like anniversaries, Christmas, birthdays, it doesn't really. My Uncle Joe died on 17 Dec, when I was 12 and I'm now 65, but I always think of him. Long long time ago. My aunt was always sad at Christmas.
I really miss my mum and she died in 83. It's all very well saying it gets better, but no. I seem to weap easily at Christmas too, so yes, memories are everywhere. I do hope you still have a lovely calm CHristmas Angel.

    love from Joy
