Shoulder/Neck Pain

I have always suffered from pain in my shoulder and neck, put it down to work (work with computers). Mentioned it to my physio and he had a look and said there was damage and gave me some exercises.
Of course tonight the night before I go away for the weekend I have done something and I am in agony. Have put on creme and have my wheat pack on. But, I really think I should get it checked out?? What type of damage is it OA, something else?
What do you all think? Should I try and get it x-rayed to see what the cause is? I have physio on Tuesday not sure if they can refer you but I know my GP can?
Any advice?

you could have pulled a muscle whilst packing as you got in a postion you dont normally do. have you taken an anti inflammatory as might do the trick overnight.........failing that have some big beers at the markets!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
forgot the serious bits of yor thread now!.....
oh yes, get the physio to feel the area and advise0 -
I didn't even do it packing!!!
The physio has checked it out and said there is damage. But what is the damage is it OA, something else?
As for the beers I would love to have one (many) but I can't drink because of my meds, will have to gorge on chocolate instead.

Hi, I have oa in my neck and some problems with a trapped nerve, it is painful and some days it is very painful! If you are worried and its showing no signs of getting better, then of course you should have it checked. I am afraid that I can't really tell you if its caused by oa as it would need a medic to examin it. Sorry, but I hope that you have a good weekend! Love Sue0

Hi Anne,
I'm with Oneday on this its probably muscular. Mine does stupid things like that, sometimes for no reason I can see. I stretch it and for me it helps. How long are you going away for? I just wonder if maybe you could get an appointment before you go with the gp if your worried? Mine goes 4-5 days and then its okish again so I don't bother to get it looked at beyond some jabs here and there. I really hope it soon settles. Cris x0 -
Hi everyone,
I am still getting shoulder and neck pain. Going to the physio today and he knows about it and told me there was damage so going to have a chat to find out what he means. Have also made an appointment with my GP for Friday hopefully will get a referral for x-rays.
This is another thing I have had on and off for years and ignored, when it got bad a couple of years ago I went to a chiropractor which helped (also gave me acuuncture) But I had to go every 2nd day and at £25 a session wasn't cheap.
Hopefully between my gp and physio I will get more info.
