I just wanted to say that I saw my GP the other day and she is so supportive, lovely and kind. She bends over backwards trying to help me out.
Quite often people have trouble with their doctors (me included) but I wondered how many of us had found a gem?

the dr i saw when i 1st started having flare ups but we didn't know RA was causing it, well she was fantastic!
she pushed for me to see a rheumy fast, she was great to talk to and really cared enough to make sure the meds she prescribed were helping, she even rang me (without being asked!) at home to make sure i was ok because she was worried about how i was coping.
a real gem!
i hadn't seen her for a while but saw her a week or so ago and she was just as lovely!

When things first started going wrong I went to a walk in GP practice and ended up seen by the same GP quite a few times. Each time I was worse but he insisted I had post viral arthralgia and with a handful of pills would send me away.
This ended in my first massive flare up so I went to the same clinic but was seen by another GP. She had never laid eyes on me and with her eyes wide open and after asking if I have medical insurance  she diagnosed me as having severe RA!! Well I have AS but I am seriously impressed with her. I should mention that I was due to fly to Australia the next day and although she wanted me in hospital instead she helped sort out treatment in Oz which is no easy task. She was wonderful.
Since this point I have also found myself in the hands of a wonderful team of Rheumy's up at the Royal Free and I get all teary when I think about just how they have changed my life and how hard they have worked to help me.
I also like my phlebotomist at my GP who I have conned into singing with me when I have my monthly bloods so I don't hear the blood fall into the container!! It's a good giggle!

My GP is fantastic. She is very caring, not just with me now, although shes helped such a lot just by listening, as and reassuring me without making me feel silly.
About 8 years ago she also looked after my rather difficult Mother-in-Law, she used to just 'pop in' to chat to her and check how she, and I where. She also helped me to cope with the stress!
