Hello everyone, i tried to post a note before, cant find it lol so here i go again..
In September of this year i was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis, after a failed marriage I was finally getting my life back on track.. studying to become a nurse, i only had 6months to qualify!! The pain started in my hands earlier this year and the docs thought it was carpel tunnel.. now im finding it difficult to walk (i miss my high heels), open bottles, get changed and do most daily tasks... even making a cup of tea!! Im taking mtx and arcoxia for the pain and swelling... my social life is out of the window and i feel cut off.. im finding it hard to express my feelings to family and friends and thought that someone out here could give me some advice... having to say im fine with a pressed smile is wearing thin.. Quick question, has anybody tried homeopathic remedies or acupuncture? If so, did you find any benefits? Also ive heard of glucosamine tablets, any advice?
i have so may questions...
and im so confused..
Thanks Nadia xxx

Hello Nadia, So many questions wow, nice to meet you i'm Colin, I to have RA. Shame you can't complete your training have you talked to you tutor about the situation your in. Home remedys by the ton even the honey and cinnamon but alas the only thing they get rid of is your money. I know what your saying about keeping a smile on your face, The problem people like us have is that you cant see the pain and offten we dont look sick. Many of your questions regarding your illness are hard to answer or there is no answer. all i can tell you is some get it worse than others. medications are as varied as us ourselves and what works for one might not work for another. Hope you settle down soon coping with stress and your emotions at this time will not help your RA Take it easy and good luck

    Hi Nadia,
Welcome from me,Elizabeth.Sorry to read you have been diagnosed with R.A.I have had R.A 10 years.Had very bad times but now coping reasonably well.Getting to see some friends for a night out here and there and boy do I appreciate them!
Glucosomine was too weak for me.MTX and Humira, sulfasalazine, hydroxychloriquinine and iron tabs have been my recipe for less pain
and I dont get cared for much by others in the family,no sympathy.I just have to get on myself.
As long as you are being monitored for inflammation and pain you should be in good hands.I hope things get easier for you in the coming months.
    Best wishes
    Elizabeth

Hi Nadia! a big welcome to the forum from me too ':D'
but I am so sorry to hear about the pain you are in and your nurse training having to be 'abandoned' because of the arther...it has such an impact on our lives..it's just not fair!':x'':('

Families and friends don't always understand and you do weary of the rictus grin that you end up presenting to the world!''

good thing is that you have found the forum where you are free to be yourself, don't have to put up a front and will get support, understanding and a laugh into the bargain.':!:'':)'

I have PA and OA so not in a position to answer your questions'', but there are plenty of folks on the forum who will.

I did have acupuncture for nerve pain in my hip and leg...it did help! haven't tried homeowhatsits but you can get referred via most GPs nowadays so if you want to give it a try, without throwing your money into it, ask your GP. ''
On the subject of money...have you applied for DLA? if not you should, especially with your training and work plans having to go on hold.
Really nice to welcome you...look forward to reading your posts too. Iris x
