I have been on this injection for a while now and although I hated the side effects of feeling nauseous I have stuck with it. Now however its started to affect my liver and I've told to take a break from it until I get more blood tests done then they will decide whether I can go back on it. Thing is I am not sure I want to. It's been making me feel ill, spare you the details but trying to plan stuff has been a pain. I think it was affecting my liver before it showed in my blood and perhaps that is why I have been feeling ill so much. I had my last injection Tuesday and stomach churning Friday evening and tonight. I have plans for tomorrow which don't involve sitting at home feeling ill. Feeling frustrated but also what are the alternatives and what nasty side effect will they have. I have seen patients on the day ward getting intravenous meds going into them, some are sitting there for a while, I don't think I would have the patience to sit for that length of time. Any advice please?

    Hello T jenny
Not so much advice im affraid but a little understanding of where your at. Its so hard coping with the side effects of medication and as for methotrexate i call it the drug from hell. Its a bit of a catch 22 sort of hobsons choice your damned if you do and damned if you dont. The drugs we take effect us all in different ways and we all have different responces to them. It sounds like your having a bit of a bad time not just with the medication but the psycological effects that long term illness can have on you. I'm the same it seems to play on your mind at times and its hard to decide what to do for the best. Its a choice you have to make but its not an straight forward thing is it. Long term pain is difficult to handle and it can get on top of you. All i can tell you is that there are worse drugs than Methotrexate for side effects. i hope it all goes well for you . Keep your chin Up and let us know how it goes.
