Come and hold my hand again folks!
Any suggestions on what pay as you go mobile would be suitable for a 11 year old.He likes to play games and wants a facebook account and street cred wheras I want a phone for him to contact us on, possibly with a camera. He has an I pod already.Pref one that isnt too desirable or likely to get stolen off him.Should I consider insurance?
No girlie colours or pics on it
Thanks
Elizabeth

Hi Elizabeth
I think you're best off visiting a few mobile phone shops and then searching for deals online too. This near to xmas, you're bound to get a good deal.
My eldest is nearly 11 - do you think I should think about getting her a mobile? I'm the same as you, I don't want to spend a lot and it would just be for her to contact us on or vica versa.

we bought ellie a mobile a while back, she's 11 next march.
i got a vodafone pay as you talk because for £5 a month i started a friends and family thing. basically you can have 4 numbers (including your own) and for the £5 a month you can all ring each other for free.
which is very handy. and saves me having to keep putting credit on ellie's phone as she can ring me or daev for free.
i went into the vodafone shop, because me and daev are both on vodafone it seemed the most sensible option.
we got her a vodafone 'own make' phone. it cost us £40 and that includes £10 credit.
i've got the same phone and it has a really good camera and you can use the internet but i know nothing about how to or how good it is!
but in the vodafone shop they tend to have a few phones from about £20 upwards.
hope that helps?

Thanks that is very helpful, with just a few necessary numbers.I have been looking around on the internet but it is a painful experience and I feel totally lost.If I went into a shop they will just sell me the most expensive phone and not necessarily the best deal
Thanks
