Hi, I currently have OA in my toe and ankle. I am keen to take supplements such as glucosamine and chondroitin to help ease the pain. In my researching into what brand to use etc I stumbled across this product - Cortaflex. It says their product is better than taking pure glucosamine and chondroitin supplements. Does anyone have any knowledge of this product? www.natural-joint-health.co.uk

I rang the manufacturer yesterday, i explained that I have had no response on this website for their product. I explained I was dubious about buying it. They have offered me 3 weeks free supply to test. I'll let you guys know how I get on.0

This product is slightly different than taking glucosamine supplements. I have provided a link to a website in the opening topic post which explains how it works. I didn't know that gps write scripts for glucosamine. My gp didn't offer a script when i mentioned i am taking supplements. He didn't show much enthusiasm for me taking supplements to be fair.0 -
Hi Sturge,
I didn't know they made it for humans but at the risk of annoying people it works so, so, so well for two of my dogs and as absolutely brilliant for my old sheep. Its far, far superior to Glucost. Its gave the sheep 3 years of quality life (with occasional top ups of cortizone and metacan injections I accept) After that she went on to Corter-vet (Slightly better and stronger) and that gave her another year. I know and genuinely do know without those powders I would have lost her soon after her diagnosis of arthritis.
I will certainly go and find the human stuff BUT my vets explained that it only helps in the first and second stage, but by second stage oa she needed the intermittent injections as well. They assured me it wouldn't help with the third stage and sadly it didn't. So depending on what stage your oa is at it rally could help. Thanks for pointing out it comes in human typeGood luck, Cris

Skezier, what is 1st, 2nd and 3rd stage of OA? I have good movement in both of my arthritic joints. They hurt and cause me discomfort, but who's don't?0

Hi Sturge,
Its so long ago but as I remember 1st stage its intermittent and just starting, 2nd stage is more active and by then some degree of ossification has started and 3rd stage its relentless and really effecting the joints. End stage I guess is where my back is where some of it has burned out. Its still able to hurt but not as badly as it did but with all the extra bone growth its taken a lot of mobility, pushes on nerves and knocked its self over to the left an inch or so. Oh and made me almost 2" shorter
This is old info and its probably not categorized like that any more? Its a case of the Corta-flex only working when its early and middle stage but it does seem to be very good there with animals....... I will let you know about humans asapCris

My surgeon says I have bone thickening. My OA is definitely active. My xray shows good amounts of cartilage between infected joints. So I think I must be at stage 1/2. This is a worry because I am only 29.0

Hi Sturge,
It might still be 1st stage, I just can't remember where they cross over. Hey its will be ok cus sometimes its slow and sometimes its faster but 3 rd stage very rarely comes quickly. I had my first oa diagnosis around 15-16 and I promise you it hasn't been as bad as I feared it would be. Its gained some ground and I have had a fair bit of surgery, on my feet especially but also my knees and back. It took quite a few years to make a huge impression on me and I wasn't kind to it...... I became an ostrich and never gave it an inch, still on't  If I had/do it might not have done this so quick
I remember the panic I had as a teenager but beyond a varying degree of pain it was ok till I hit 40ish and then I got 3rd stage in the back and thats a bit more difficult to ignore..... They do everything they can to keep me gong and for that I am so grateful. I just want you to see that it doesn't happen over night and to a degree you can offset what it doing via either exercise, physio or surgery (if really needed). It will be ok so hang in there.
