Shoulder/Neck Pain

As some of you will know I have been having problems with my neck and shoulder. I spoke to my physio on Tuesday and he said to keep doing the exercises to strengthen, no point in an xray. He said that there was very little muscle on the left side.
Went to see my GP today and he checked me out and said there was no muscle at all. He also told me that he has alarm bells going off about me, did I have a family history of muscular dystrophy or similar.
He sent me off for an xray and I have to go back in the New Year and he is going to run a battery of test (his words) and refer me to a rheumy.
One part of me is scared but the other part is glad that it is being looked at as all the things that have been going on this year I have thought may be linked.
What a year it has been. Scared to get any more test as I always seem to fail, have my smear on Monday.....
Thanks for listening.

Hi Anne,
All tests are scary, but without them where would we all be? I know I would be on the scrap heap!! Lol good luck with all of them
Take Care

It's not so much the tests I can cope with them. It's the fact that i always fail them and add another ailment to my list.
I had gynalogical probs years ago and used to get smears and worse every 3 months so used to them. This time will be a bit trickier because of my hips and I can't quite 'flop' my legs the way i used to.
The muscular dystrophy is frightening but I am trying to put it to the back of my mind until the hols are over.

Hi Anne
Try and put it to the back of your mind over Christmas. It is hard to do, I know.
We will ALL be with you after Chistmas and will support you in as many ways we can, just ask us.
You seem to have a lovely OH, as well. He will be your rock.
Just sending you these ((((((((hugs))))))))

You enjoy yourself as much as you can for a couple of weeks and put it all on the back-burner till then.
It's just as bad the other way round, I always pass my tests! Then they look at me, look at the results, shake their heads, sigh and say 'we STILL don't know what you've got'...........

Thanks everyone. It will be good to finally find out what is wrong with me.
Annie, that's frustrating knowing you are not right but not being able to get to the bottom of it.

I am in a similar position, in that I have problems with the nerves in my hands and arms, carpel tunnel, cubital tunnel etc. The plastic surgeon who operated on my carpel tunnel is a bit worried and wants me to see a neurollogist.
I am sorry that you have to worry about something else, sometimes it seems as if we solve one problem, only to be faced with another. It is good though, that these things can be found and treatment offered at the earliest stage possilbe. Try not to worry too much, I do know from experience that its easy to say, but not so easy to do! But have a nice, as pain free as possible Christmas! Love Sue xx0
