Well as of today i am the owner of my own business!
It's something i've thought about on and off for years. Most of you know that i dabble in ebay and enjoy knitting and crochet. Well now i've set up a legitimate ebay business (i was trading as a private seller before) and have registered for tax and national insurance. I will be selling all things to do with knitting and crochet, yarn, needles, hooks, patterns and my own hand made items.
I'm not sure how it will go yet but you don't know till you try and with redundancy looming i have to do something. Even if i'm not one of the unlucky 3 supervisors, hopefully Crafty People (name of my business) will bring in some extra pocket money...............would be nice to tell my boss to stick his job where the sun don't shine

How uncanny is that? By trade, i am a qualified dress maker! I done that for 7 years, have been knitting for 30 years and crocheting for 3 years.

Best wishes

Congratulations Carol!
I'm too impatient to do any form of needlework I'm afraid! Although when I was little I did knit a teddy bear (still have it somewhere).
Wishing you every success with your business hun.

I haven't listed anything for sale yet, still organising things. But i have set up a page on facebook. It would be great if those of you on facebook would have a look (not much to see yet!) and become a fan of the page.
On my page is a link to the actual business but as i say, nothing for sale as yet.
I'm not asking you to buy, just take a look if you have the time.

New year, new business - can't go wrong. He who dares and all that :-)

With it being an ebay business, i don't have any start up costs so even if it doesn't work, i've only lost my time!
I am not a 'computer' person but have set up a very basic website

No Trish i didn't make my wedding dress, that was bought off the hanger. I would love to do more dress making but to do something like that, i need industrial machines, which i would love to have, but i just don't have the room. I have a really good home sewing machine and you can do enough on it to get by, but i wouldn't do something like a wedding dress.
I'd really need a converted garage to do it properly, have a big cutting table, and at least 4 different types of machine. I'm probably just being too fussy, but i did work for top London names, Frank Usher, Windsmore, Oasis (lower end of the scale) Aquascutum (we used to call Aqua ****!) We mainly made womens skitrs and trousers, some sold in the shops for £300 so we had to be spot on with the stitching

Hi Carol,
YEs I will have to p.m you as not linked to facebook.Today is first day of all children at school, due to snow,so need to still catch up from Christmas. But I am so particular and can never find ideal jumpers in shops.I am a shortie and feel the cold so like long sleeves and thigh length and a good shape round the neck otherwise I get cold.
I will be in touch soon
