hello all,
Happy New Year to all, I am feeling a bit down today after yet another night without sleep. I had a quiet new years eve, only had 1 drink. Could not get in the mood have felt like this for a while. It seems lately that I'm becoming a proper moan, Am so tired and have no get up n go left. This may seem strange but I am looking forward to getting my bloods done on monday. I seem to glow when i can communicate with people who understand what I am talking about.
Well thats all for now hope too hear from you all soon. This Forum is a great help don't know where i would be without it. CHEERS

Hang in there Handsy, I know what it's like to be awake half the night and feeling rotten. I just wanted to acknowledge your post and wonder is there nothing your GP can do to help you? Have you tried amytriptyline? from what I read on here it can help.
Hopefully someone else will be along with some good suggestions. Thank goodness for this site, I'd be lost without it too. Hope this year is a better one for you. Bye for now.

Hi Handsy,
Know what you mean about having someone to talk to who understands. I've had several sleepless nights too, but the morning comes ... eventually. My get up and go has got up and gone as well. My house is a mess - the mind wants to clear it up but the body won't co-operate. Chin up, luv THIS YEAR WILL BE BETTER!
WISHING EVERYONE A VERY HAPPY AND LESS PAINFUL NEW YEAR

Hi John,
Its tough, this arthritis but when you start to feel better you will appreciate everything more.I too suffer from lack of sleep even though I am so tired. It is really frustrating.
You will have to come on the forum more often if it helps you.It is easy to become isolated after all your old friends carry on with their lives and forget to tell you when things are happening(because you never can go anyway). The chit chat zone is great for having a laugh and conversation(even if it is a bit risque at times).
Best wishes

Hi there John,
I am sorry to hear how you are feeling at this time but do call in more often, as you see, from the replies to you, there is always someone here to send you a friendly word of support.
Yesterday it was lovely to see the sun, albeit it chilly and the sun is shining though yet again.
All the best for Monday and keep calling in, chatting to us and "glowing".
Hope to see your name appearing more often on the forum this year,
Chin up,
Luv

Hello Handsy
Sorry your New Year was a bit low.
When you see your Consultant , Do you see him soon or maybe your doctor. Ask him what you can do to help lift your spirits. Perhaps your diet could be wrong. We all need a bit of detoxing this time of the year.
Our blood gets a bit thick and needs thinning down a bit. That's what my mother use to tell me. She would then start spooning all sorts of things down my throat. That's going back 60 odd years ago. Scares me when I think about it.
I hope you feel a bit better soon.

Hi John, I can understand what you mean about not much sleep, I don't sleep well at the best of time, I always end up having a nap in the afternoon, I had a quiet new year too, me and Malcolm and 1 drink each, take care of yourself, it is always great to hear from you love Jaspercatxx0

Hi John, just want to say, agreeing with everyone, Jan (pixie) is right when she says anti depressant help. Nowadays they are not addictive either. I am on 25mg amtitriptyline, which relaxes the muscles, (something about sending msgs to the nerve endings) I did read up on it but brain fog makes me forget lol!!
Go to your GP and ask for help its what they are there for. This group is really lovely and very kind and helpful, so use us!!0 -
Hi there Handsy
How are you feeling at the moment. I expect you are beginning to dread the thought of going to bed. Perhaps try a different way of preparing for bed. Perhaps a nice hot bath would help each night Do something to really relax you. If all else fails with this option and you do get up, cannot sleep then try doing a few jobs during the night, just for an hour, maybe two, then try going back to bed.
If it really worries you, then see your GP and ask him to prescribe something to make you sleep. Just long enough to get you into a new sleeping pattern.
I've been there John and it isn't funny. If by being awake at night makes you tired during the afternoon, sometimes a nap, if deep enough, will be better than a nights sleep.
Perhaps you're not warm enough. Have you tried wearing bed socks or even a scarf and hat. Sounds funny but when I am in pain, I find this helps me.
I have found that since I started on the Tramadol Slow Release, I am sleeping so much better and perhaps only get disturbed once in the night but not for long.
Good Luck John. Hope you get sorted soon.
