HELLO
I don't know if anyone remembers the ESA medical I was supposed to have before Christmas, but when I turned up, I was sent home? Well, as I mentioned at the time they have given me another appointment, and its today at 1.30. I did decide I wouldn't go, but after thinking about things, I've decided, that I will give it another chance. If they mess around this time, though I will complain to all the agencies I can think of and a few more! They have sent me a cheque for £12 to cover the parking and petrol, as its a 17 mile journey each way and thats a total of 34 miles. Not a small sum in petrol money these days!
Anyway, I am sure it is going to be a strange meeting as I'm not properly diagnosed as they think I may also have some neuro problems and I'm waiting for an appointment.
Just thought I'd let you know what I'm up to. Love Sue

Good luck with the medical. Hope you actually get a glimpse of the 'doctor' today.
My best advice - don't do anything they ask if it hurts at all (I tried doing things it just left me in pain and didn't do me any favours with the result).
Hope the journey isn't too long!0 -
Good luck Sue.

Best of luck Sue are you taking some moral support???0

Hello, I'm back home, thank goodness! My husband was able to have the afternoon off as its an 'Inset' day and the children are not back until tomorrow. I would'nt have had the nerve to drive on our snowy, icy lanes! Jerry skidded into the ditch on the way home from work to take me! It was only a very minor thing, he stopped on the grass verge to let another car go past and when he tried to get going again, one of the wheels slid into the ditch!
Anyway, this time I saw the doctor, she was quite nice and was very clear that I must not do anything that hurt at all. Bending down made my back give a loud crack and she stopped my immediatly, also wouldn't let me do the bending forward bit as she said it would be too much for me! She examined my back and found all the sore spots. She also demonstrated how my left side is very much more numb than the right. I knew it was a bit, but hadn't realized how much. She said that I may well get called back to see another specialist(???) Thats made me wonder a bit but I think it may be because I had mentioned depression and am on anti-depressants at the moment. I gave her my doctors letter and the Occy Health Docs report - she spent a lot of time reading them and entering them onto the computer and said that the decision makers may well contact them. So at least I know that they hav'nt been 'lost'!
She said that she is surprised that surgery on my neck is'nt thought a good option and said it may be a good idea to ask again.
Anyway, I am tired out, physically and mentally. I'm not putting too much hope on the visit as I know that other people have been treated after they thought they had done well during a medical. If they say no, I will appeal. I wonder what a second medical would be about though.
Thank you all for your kind thoughts, it means a lot. I think I'll have a res now! Lots of love Suexxx0 -
Hi Sue, well it sounds really good!!! At least you saw a proper doctor, and not an assessor. She sounded as though she knows her job too. I know that doesnt always mean much, but fingers crossed for you. All the best Jay x0

Wow that sounds great! So different from my assessment (I don't think I actually got a doctor but an assessor). I really hope you get a good reply. Did you get her name? Do you think I could request her at the next medical rather than the numpty I got?
Will (attempt) to cross my fingers for you!0 -
Sue, that sounds so much more positive than the last fiasco! Hope you get some good results, you deserve to after this saga.......there seems to be a lot of good things happening today.

hi Sue, hope you get a good result.

Thank you all, I felt that she was interested but who knows? I don't want to get my hopes up, but she did sound more informed and interested, as well as concerned not to let me do anything that hurt. She seemed to be able to tell when something was hurting before I had a chance to say anything, and she stopped me straight away! The questions were sensible and not read from a list, although she obviously had to ask certain things. Her name on her desk but, I can't remember it as although if began with an F. Dr. F### not very long!
But as I said I don't want to get my hopes up, as you can never tell! She said I may have to see someone else so I just have to wait now. Love Sue0 -
I sounds like everything went well. It seems that they realise you are not exagerating your symptoms and could see your pain. It is an emotional drain on everyone who goes through this made worse by assessors apparent disregard and lack of empathy.
And you kept a cool head....well done and good luck.

Hi Sue
Well done!
I am glad you made it in one peice and that hubby was able to be with you.
Souinds very positive I must say - maybe she is always so thorough and that';s why they had to cancel you last time.
Good idea to take the letters with you - maybe everyone should try it - as you said you KNOW they have them don't you?
Rest up now and wait and see - don't worry it will do yoiu no good at all.
Love

Hi Sue,
I was told decision was down to assessor & also that I might have to go back too. Mine was last week so still waiting to hear. I only saw my consultant week before so too soon to have received his report which was a shame as my doc for medical didn't seem to know much about operation result. Oh well, fingers crossed for us then!

Hello Sue
Just got letter this morning saying I have been put in "Limited ability to work" group & wondered if , first, you or anyone else, knows what this means & also if you had heard anything from them yet.
There is just one of those standard letter with new rate of pay etc. There is no feedback from medical or does this mean this is it?
Confused as usual! Also just ordered flowers for my Dad's funeral & feeling tearful anyway.
Hope you Ok, today

Hello Sue
I'm afraid that I have only just seen this post. Obviously your meeting has been and gone now, but would be very interested to know when you hear anything I remember all the hooha and to send a measly amount for the petrol but better than nothing.
Penfactor.
Sorry to hear of your bereavement. I can only say what dozens ofothers have said before meand that is "It Does get better in time"
but there is theround of birthdays, anniversaries, Christmas etc to go by as yet, can be difficult. good luck.

Hello Pennie & Joy and anyone else! No, I haven't heard anything yet. I hade an official looking letter yesterday and I thought, Here we go, but it was just asking me to sign something I should have been given to sign last week at the job advisor visit, the only trouble is it says 'fill in the highlighted section, but nothing is highlighted and I can't see anything relevant to sign!!!
Pennie I'm sorry that I don't know, off hand, what that means, have you tried googling it? Why don't they make things clearer? I don't know, they seem to be waisting money with paper work. The 'expert employment advisor' I saw had only been doing the job for 2 weeks and was in a building, on his own and didn't know what to do. Asked me if I knew. Ahhh maybe a job for me???? Asking nosey questions, I'd be good at that.....
