Hi
Apparently, regional accents are increasing. I love accents as I think they make people more interesting.
My accent is a mixture of Yorkshire, where I grew up, and Derbyshire, where I live now. So I say bath and path correctly :!: :!:
And you are all ''me ducks''.
What is your accent?
Joan

Mine is Lancashire. I lived in Nottinghamshire for a while where
"me duck" was the equivalent of a Lancashire "luv."
I knew a lad from Coventry who called his girl friend "best
beloved duck number one." Dont know if he ever married her.0 -

I also lived in Notts for 10 years, so there is some part of that in my accent too, which is different from Derbyshire, even though so near.0 -

Nothing common about a London accent. I like the idea of London Welsh :!:0 -
I don't know what I am. i was born London, 6 years Suffolk rest Northamptonshire.
If I had an accent it would have been knocked out of me at The Convent.
All I know is that the first time I ever rang my OH before we were married, I rang him and his son answered the phone. When he told his dad "I don't know who's on the phone for you dad, but she sounds very sexy"

Hi Joy

Hi Joan,
I have got one but ...... My parents were terrible, terrible frightfully and my Nan and Granddad were broad Cornish so mines a bit of a hybrid..... Its broad with my own and if I am tired, excited, worried, happy or angry but its normally on the back burner except for what I say and hint in how I say it....... and..... EVERYONE knows it b'th and p'th! Cris x0 -
Well, I was born a Lancashire lass, but only eight miles from Liverpool. When I was eleven, I went to Convent in Liverpool, where everyone spoke quite differently. Couldn`t beat em, so I joined em. My Frank used to say in later years "My wife is bi-lingual you know".
By the way Joan, what Colin said, roughly translated, means Go ahead there La - a Liverpool term of endearment........Ange.0 -
