Hi everyone, Saw the rheumy consultant yesterday as I have been on Hydroxy for 6 months now.He gave me some good news, blood tests are back to normal,Das score is very good and he has reduced the Hydroxy to just one tablet a day. However,I still have pain at the top of the arms(referred pain from the shoulder) and he thinks a steroid injection might help ease the pain.Has anyone else had this injection for arm/shoulder pain and if so,did it work? The pain starts to get worse once I go to bed and it keeps me awake throughout the night so if the injection does work I will definately get it done.I had four x rays done on the shoulder so have to wait for the results of those.Although my hands are still stiff they are not painful like they used to be so I guess the Hydroxy has dampened down the condition. Nice to have some good news for a change! Breane. :P

    Hi Breane,

I am glad the hydro is helping for you :D I have had the injection in my shoulders and the elbows and they do seem to help a bit but for me it was referred form my neck and its the neck ones that really sorted it you for a while. They often help to some degree and sometimes they really help so fingers crossed for you. Cris x

Hi Breane, yes I have had that (see my reply to 'fed up and feeling alone' thread.) As I say there, first one was diagnostic and didn't work. The second one was done after ultrasound and then under ultrasound (so they know where they are going lol!) Almost immediate relief in the second instance and didn't hurt a jot. The doc who did the ultrasound (both) seemed to know exactly what he was talking about and his opinion completely differed from the two consultants I had seen! He was right as it worked!
    Good luck with it.
