I hope your son's OK but I couldn't help but smile when I read your post - oh the trips we've had to A&E with ours! My middle one was the clumsiest - forever falling down the stairs and banging her head.
I hope you get him sorted soon, keep us posted

I'm 65 now but I shall never forget my mum telling me what I did when I was about 3. I stuck a bead up my nose. so was having difficulting breathing, so they called the doctor who came. When the bead had been removed, and the doctor had left, what did I do?
Stuck the bead back up my nose again.

Joy my mum did that with a nut my nan loved telling us
Elizabeth- thats a trip you couldve done without ah  hope they get it out ok monday, is it hurting him? is it a wheel stuck in there?
hope your ok0 -
Its a wing mirror from a camper van!He usually eats things and I have to keep telling him no but think this is a first with the ear.Mind you they might find all sorts once they start.
I certainly could have done without this trip. The snow is coming down thick and fast and we are supposed to be fitting wardrobes and there is stuff everywhere, and all the tree decs are lying around with half the tree.
Good thing is we managed to buy some more coal bags for the fire as we were just about to run out.
Take care all, keep warm

Years ago, when my eldest was about seven, he was crying in pain with a sore ear. As it was late evening, and we lived close to a hospital, I took him to A&E.
A lovely young doctor poked around gently, shining his light, then smiled. Imagine my amazement when he started to pull out what seemed to be yards - wasn`t of course - of very fine string. I thought he was pulling his brains out!! Apparently, I had been impacting it, every time I washed his ears. He informed us that he had done it when he started in "Mrs Reed`s class". That was two months previously!
I hope your little fella is OK Elizabeth......Ange.0 -

Brilliant! Have you tried turning him upside down and shaking him!!
It does work if you have the heart to do it. My son was always sticking something somwhere! Mostly his fingersin sockets!!
Hope it all turns out OK.

this really made me smile
when I was about 12 we did an experiment about hearing in Biology. It involved measuring how far away each person could hear a ticking watch. Obviously there were differences in hearing ability ..... but they got a bit worried when I couldn't hear the ticking at all in one ear.
So ..... quick trip to the GP ..... who noticed 'something' in my ear, sent me home with drops and said to go back in a week to have my ear syringed
Returning to the (very busy) surgery a week later, the assembled patients in the waiting room were surprised to see my GP dashing out to his car, only to return with large camera bag and tripod   That was nothing to sthe shock I got when he syringed my ear and what appeared to be the pointed end of a wax crayon appeared out of said ear    It must have been there for years .... and I had to have my photo taken with the offending article, as my GP just happened to be doing a paper on the things that children post into various body parts
needless to say my hearing got a lot better very quickly0 -
Hi all thanks for your stories!I enjoyed them all. What a bunch we are.
Lynn, OH drove car...he is a very good driver so leave it all to him.But the roads around here seem to be okay at the moment as we seem to be on the edge of the worst places.

hi
i thought i would add that i had to have a moth removed from my ear a few years back. yes you will need a hospital with an E and T unit (ears and throat) and i had to go to 3 hospitals before i got my moth removed, it took the doctor ages to get the moth out but it was painless.
ruddy think got in my ear when i was out walking the dog at night and it was not nice having something flapping in side my ear, i killed it by pouring water into my ear.
i was told that having an object in your ear could give me problems with my balance but all i felt was daft. the doctor told me that bees, wasps and butterflys are all to common to be found in the ear.
so am sure your son will be sorted on monday.

Hi Elizabeth
Hope you're managing OK with the kids, snow and ear dramas. I assume your schools are still closed as ours are.
My oldest son put a big seed into his ear in Africa; he was 12 at the time so thought he would have had more sense. They couldn't get it out there so he had to wait until we came home, fortunately only a few days. The hospital joked with him that they would have to report him for importing a prohibited seed - he was most impressed.
My OH has taken Ollie (grandson) into work with him this morning so have had a lovely long bath and feel refreshed and ready to spend the afternoon playing with Thomas train set.
Keep warm, well, and rest as much as you can,

Hi Elizabeth!!
The little monkey!
Poor you - you must have been frantic!
I do hope all goes well and they locate the offending wing mirror on Monday.
You take care

OH took him and has just phoned to say they failed to remove the toy and he has to go back sometime to have it removed under anaesthetic.Last time he had anaesthetic (11th Jan coincedently)he freaked out. He is not going to co operate again that is certain.
Apparently he wouldnt keep still.
Thanx for asking

how about asking for something to relax him instead? don't know if thats an option but maybe worth an ask!
but you do have to sit ultra still so i can see why they couldn't remove it.
good luck

The nurse at [TEXT DELETED] hurt him which is why she stopped and got the appt for [TEXT DELETED] so of course he was anticipating even more pain.I think they should have another go as he will def freak out when he sees the anaesthetic cos he has very bad memories of the last time.
Lynn def not what I wanted. They said it would be easy if he kept still!

My sister did exactly the same thing so mum took her to casualty to have it removed. Next day she did the same thing again, only htis time mum told her she would have to keep blowing her nose till it came loose itself - she was not going back to A&E. Needless to say she never stuck another bead up her nose after she had "blown" it out.

oops! apologies.I wasnt criticising them though.First nurse was right to stop and refer son to better equipped hospital(her words)and other hosp was put off cos son autistic and didnt think he would sit still enough which can be dangerous. So they were correct.Never be bullied into silence.

Hi Elizabeth,
I hope your son is ok today, how long do you have to wait before he can go again?
My girls did a lot of things - Samantha was always falling down the stairs! but they never did this.
I do hope it gets sorted soon.

Dear Lynn
Just wondered how it went today for you both. I was thinking about you.
Lots of love
