I was diagnosed with arthritis of my left hip 12yrs ago now but I was not in pain at the time .Over the years have had severe lower back pain was struck down for 2 days last year where I could not stand. I have been in pain 24/7
Went to Doctors beginning dec & told it was my muscles ! go to gym which I had done in the past & swimming when pain not so bad Now ***no back pain*** but pain in thighs hips & particularly right leg & can not stand up it's frightening & with all the terrible weather I am housebound & scared anyone out there with advice I am 56 & taking 75 mgs diclofenic twice a day but still in pain

Hi & welcome to the forum.
this is a great place to get help, have a laugh over on chit chat.etc.

I would say go back to you gp & ask for some more pain relief.
You can take things like paracetomol or strong painkillers with you diclofinecs. Plus a lot of us on here take Amptripyline to help with pain & sleeping at night.
I take diclofenic, Tramadol (pain killer) Oramorph ( liquid painkiller) Amptripyline (sleeping) & Gabapentins( for nerve pain )
so you see its a matter of gettting the right combination of meds & there are plenty for you to try.
Hope you can get some help & decent pain relief.

    Hi Linnie,

A welcome from me as well and I am sorry things have been so bad fr you f late. ( sorry I am having a bit of eye trouble so I hope you can understand this?) I totally agree with Debs go back to see your gp and maybe make a double appointment cus I think you need to have so much you need answers to. Some times we have to fight for all we need but one things for sure when you go back to see him we will all be there to kick him if he doesn't help  Sometimes its a good idea to write down things you would like to ask. I hope things son improve for you. Take care Cris

Hello I hope that you can soon get to your GP, as I too think you need more pain killers and mabe x-rays, if you hav't had any recently to find out the cause of the problem. Certainly, you need some more help and I hope that you can soon get to the docs. Make an appointment for early next week and if the weather is that bad, cancel it, I'm sure they won't mind! Glad you found your way here, at least you've got people to talk to who understand now.
    Love Sue

    Hi Linnie
A big welcome to the forum, I to have OA of the hips, and in my back. I have found I can loosen my back off with excercise, but have to be careful with my hips,
Sometime you go through flare ups , this weather dosn't help, last week I couldn't stand up with the pain, but it dose pass.
Like people have said go back to your GP and maybe ask about a pain clinic, they are a big help.
Hope you are soon feeling better, keep warm (easier said then done)
    Love Barbara xx

    Hi Linnie
This isn't right in my opinion either.
As the others have said back to the docs for you and with some support anyone who can say how it is for you will do.
I expect someone suggested you try heat or cold applied???
There are other meds you could be prescribed and then if you can you need to push for some tests.
    Good luck
    Oh
forgot to say WELCOME from me :)

Thank You, I have got ann appointment for the Dr's for next week so will take note of what you are all saying & will ask for tests. I feel better just knowing someone else knows how I feel. It is frightening not being able to stand. X
