Hi All,
Hope your getting a much needed thaw now and have less snow and ice.
Some of you know I had my neck re-done the end of last year, it may not have been de-nerved but it was certainly medroned and cortizoned a fair bit....... Through the side is SO much better if anyone has to have it done. She was a bit 'iffy' bout the de-nerving thing cus it was very swollen, hot and red and though she told me I was tree swinging via a lot of sedative at the time
Its now really hot and swollen but the past few days have not been easy cus of all the extra work this snow stuff brings and when you have a shower it feels cut, not grazed but skinned. I just wondered if anyone with spondy of either spelling has this as well?
I have a few problems with swelling going up to the base of the skull, more on the left than the right but thats not too unusual but its also red and that isn't its norm.
Hope your all okish and sending ((( )))'s to you all. Luv Cris who is hoping the drip will sort out so much xx

Hi Lynn,
Ummmm sounds a bit like your MIL's, Its got a lump come up at the start of the neck that uncovered could stop cars! Then at the base of the skull something bit like half a tennis ball and so much redness and judging from how bad my eyes have been and the words not being in the right place I think poss some swelling under the skull as well as on the outside? I got blood tests hopefully cus they have forecast either rain or snow again tomorrow depending on how cold it is and how high is high ground and the last 2 have been cancelled, but I might have t try and remember to ask the nurse eh? It doesn't feel like ligament or tendons which is good cus they take for ever to heal eh?
Why couldn't I have remembered we used to use blow torches......  Been using a hammer and yesterday I went for the no prisoner approach of the pounder!
Love and (((( )))) and thanks Cris xxx0 -

Hi Paul,
Skezier has had a rough old time of it and lots of little creatures rely on her so she doesnt have the luxury of a rest, even in this weather.
A few years ago I couldnt stand up without somebody helping me move very slowly and I cried and cried with the pain but now up and about and much better due to medication!Take heart.

Thanks Elizabeth, hey we getting a thaw Cris x
Hi Paul,
Mine ISN'T just my neck so please don't worry. I have other conditions as well, I don't rest much, I don't top when things hurt and you will be ok I promise you. I am so sorry if its worried you, I just am not able to talk about how I feel in the 3d world and sometimes, well sometimes I do get scared.
I promise you the other things drive the brain stuff not the oa or pa (ie spondy of either spelling) I really want you to know you wont get this. ((( ))) Cris xx

Hi Toni and Chris
I have OA in my spine, neck and assorted joints.
My main fear are the Osteophytes in my neck. Ten years ago I had to be put on IV Morphine for 2 days. Since then I have been very careful not to bang my head.
Glad I took the advise not to have surgery, best not to go poking around in the neck.

Hi Paul
Ouch!
No Cris will sypathise with you with your neck probs - one of the worst places as you can't really rest it.
Sounds like you have learnt what to do/not do.
I am lucky and my neck is ok at the moment (cross fingers) The rheumy says I have RA and am on hydroxy for it but my bloods as far as I knoiw were negative...so who knows eh?
Well it is good to meet you and hope to see you around the forums. Sounds like you will have plenty of tips for us lot too
Toni x0 -
Just to send you a truck load off bubbles cris xxx
Hi Paul0 -
I'm sending you hugs Cris but not around your neck, promise. Lynn's idea of hot packs and ice packs alternately sounds good to me.
.......either that or get in the employers water trough once you've melted the ice with the blow torch  ....or could you wrap Slipper Boy round your neck for constant warmth :? ....actually bad idea he'd chew your ears off
Sincerely hope the drip helps ((((((( ))))))))

Hi Cris..
what a time you're having; sorry it's bad for you just now.':('
I don't have any answers or advice but gentle hugs <<< >>> and lots of love coming your way. Iris x
Paul, welcome to the forum..hope you enjoy being part of this great family! Iris x0 -
No answers for you Cris, but much love, and masses of hugs.
If the problem persists, you have to see someone about it. Knowing how you feel about the GP`s, I imagine that one`s a no-no. So, how about your rheumy? I`ll nag you now til you do something!......Much love......Ange.0 -
Hi Sharon,
Shed load on their way back to you ((( ))) xx
Hi Legs,
Ummmmm well he is out and about just now with his sledge..... He's got hugs, love, eggs and slurps for Vonski, a bowl of slightly too much peppered soup for Wonky he will then drop off some luv and hugs to all the people he knows and then cut across to you so you can teach him to be a proper neck warmer
He said he will bark at your snow and ice till it goes away and then he will give you his mums ((( ))) and thanks to you.
Luv
Cris who has this mental picture of him out on his sledge xxx
Hi Iris,
Thanks and yep its not so good just now. Slipper Boy knows where Scotland is so he will be calling to give you slurps and hugs as well so you haven't escaped Hey I got bread today Hope your ok up there? xx
Hi Ange,
Oh please remind me to mention this to the nurse on wens
He is under instruction to bark at your ice as well and he said something about you giving him a load of handbags..... ((( ))) Cris xx
I am sorry am so worried, its the life thing yet again but the sheep have reminded me that this weather is making everything so hard and bless them that I will be better soon...... They really are giant comfort rags, even better than Jan's blankie ........ With them and you folk I have more perception on it all now....... though still no mid line appointment!
You are all so kind and well I so appreciate it. x0 -
Cris is there any chance of getting the sheep to you anytime soon? that would make things easier for you wouldnt it? and then you wouldnt worry bout them too much cos they would be right there.0
-
Hi Cris,
I'm ok here.....still got heaps of snow. not ventured out but had a great day just talking to peeps in the forum!
tell slipper boy I've got a big plate of porridge with honey in it just for him to keep him toasty on his big adventure around the country. ':D'
I've told my wee Ruby and Jakey boy to watch out for him....so slurps all round!
glad you got bread '' did you have to fight for it?
keep warm and still got my fingers crossed you'll soon feel better. Iris x0 -
Hi Sharon,
I am determined to build them a shed and get them home cus its getting hard to just do the driving at the mo...... Besides I need them home for the comfort they bring me ( that sounds so selfish but they get quite a lot back from me as well old age springs to mind at least ) Its all just hard cus there is so much snow and ice just now. Haz has a snowman for you and a a bag of bubbles ((( ))) Cris xx0 -
Hi Iris,
the shops are akin to the aftermath of soldier ants just now  I shot in as someone was about to put their 4th loaf in the trolley, didn't know I could move so fast We just don't handle snow as good as you up there
He likes porridge and loves kids so he will enjoy him self, he also has loved snow ((( ))) Cris xx0 -
Cris, oooh, so sorry you have another sheep load of probs again.....I do have neck problems, but mine's more to do with inflamed arteries so probably can't help much...........I find heat works better than cold.......sit with your head against a sheep?
So hope you get sorted on the 18th, I will be there.........
Annie0 -
Hi Annie,
That's interesting about the arteries thing...... Mine are not big enough so nothing gets enough blood or O2 so maybe...... I know Legs, bless her, often says about cold as well as hot and I would use both on an employer but I really can only do heat...... Not thats its short of heat just now
Yep next monday    can't say I's looking forward to it but this time I so need it cus of my feet if nothing else. ((( ))) and thanks flower xx   I think I might be lowering the tone of the lWA forum   :oops:0 -
Cris, that is interesting.......mine are obviously very painful and swollen when they are inflamed and of course I feel it in the muscles too as not enough blood is getting through. I think they are hoping that the MTX will help control this inflammation as well, but only time will tell on that.........happens to me out of the blue usually......sometimes I can feel it starting up but by no means always.
Probably sounds daft and I will be shot down somewhere, but I find magnetsextremely useful. Can't put creams and gels on my head and painkillers don't touch it at it's worst.
Dunno if that helps.
Annie0 -
Hi Annie,
This is really interesting........ I got something going on that maybe circulatinal........ Maybe the drip will help? Its been exceptionally cold of late and I have something akin to acrocyanosis only its more ambitious and it turns out my blood vessels just aren't big enough and well could I ask what department your blood thing is under? Cus mine was circulatory not cardiovascular it went under the Rumo's and for that I am so glad cus I was able to take my bones in the back door
Magnets..... ell I am really thinking of using one round my neck...... It really helped both my old dog and old sheep but they had to wear them over the carotid....... I will be laughed at maybe but my beautiful spaniel had a collar with crystals in it and it fits Time I shut up    ............. xx0 -
Mine's classed as both a vascular disease and auto-immune and is listed as an arthritic condition - with me you pays your money and takes your choice!
It got me into the Rheumy's though and I'm glad about that now with something else going on - I've also got asthma and diabetes, all autoimmune conditions, so .............?
I managed to get a hat today of the kind I wanted - bless those charity shops - and I'm going to be sitting sewing magnets into it tonight!
They work for me..............
Annie0 -
Hi Annie,
I smoke so I brought the coff but I also really do run on lack of O2 and the blood thing may/may not be autoimmune...... Crohn's certainly is....... pa is........ My brain maybe..... and I will read up on this one cus well the swelling is in the area of the arteries.... and the vampire bites They still hurt but the bones are quite numb still in that area........ I really think I should have followed the advice given to me by the brutal consultant when I was 17 and moved to a warmer climate
I am almost at the point of wearing a very beautiful 'choker' with the magnets over the cortid........ xx0 -
Cris,
Don't have any answers, sorry. So sending you some (((( )))).
Anne x0 -
Hi Anne,
The hugs are often more than an answer and I send you (((( ))))'s as well cus she always wanted to be on this forum as well Cris x0
