I have just found out that my conveyancing solicitors have been closed down.

I have spoken to the people in the know and it's going to take at least 3 weeks just for them to send out a letter saying that they have closed the company down.

As they have my file, I cannot go to another solicitor coz there is bound to be a vital piece of paper in that file grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

    Oh Linda :(
I understand though - lots of solicitors closing due to housing market I heard. You'd better not be selling your house to my nephew?!!

Don't worry Toni, we are not selling this one yet! :(:(:(

These solicitors were dealing with the remortgage of my property from my previous marriage (divorce does have it's up side :):):):) )

3 weeks to send a letter out? That's rubbish, they make up their own rules.

You may be right Nina, but they have to catalogue thousands of files, this firm had 3 offices which covered the country plus they were a big internet company which was where I found them - they were also very cheap - A lesson to be learned there!!!!!!

Hmmmm, you'd think they would already have a database of sorts for all their clients to be able to send out the letters?

Cataloguing files? Shouldn't they have done that already?!

Anyway, what do I know about conveyancing? But I do manage 6 Admin Offices for the Fire Service so I know a bit about record keeping... :-)

    Nx

PS - sorry, it's not much help, I'm just having a rant!

    Hi Linda

I'm not sure what you could do if they've given you their turnaround. But I do think it's rubbish.

PS - still not much help!
