Hi all, firstly I have a very small disc between my C6 and C7 vertebrae so the back of both are in contact but not fussed, at the mo it's is giving me hell, also my C2 and C3 are totally fussed, now for the life of me I can’t remember what the hell this condition is called any ideas.

Secondly I have Nortriptyline for OA in my knees but I don’t like the side effects so went down to half a tab each day, now I’m sitting here and my neck is flippin murder, has anyone got any ideas for better pain control, I’ve tried acupuncture and it helps but it’s costly so I can’t go as much as I like, any ideas or advice would be really helpful. :?:

    Hi Mel,

Sorry your getting grief from your neck. Mine is also fusing its self together both in the neck and the lower end and slightly starting to in the thoracic. It got many reasons, mine is predominantly extra bone growth from the oa and they did think it was A.S for a while but over bone growth from the oa ended up being blamed.

I wonder if you should go back and talk your gp? There are so many different combinations of anti flams and pain relief that it might be an idea to see if another one would help you more? Disc narrowing is also common I'm afraid. Hope you soon get some relief. Cris

Hi, I have oa in my spine and neck and compression at C5/C8. Its quite painful sometimes and I have to be very careful with it. They did mention surgery, but only as something that hopefully can be avoided.

I know that some of the back problems have funny names, according to the cause of them, I'm sorry you are in pain and suffering! Its not good is it?? When you go to the docs, you should ask the name of the problem, then you can maybe find out more about it. Love Sue

Thanks for the info guy's and gal's mine isn't OA just a duff disc between my C6 & C7 vertebrae and a complete fusion of my C2 & C3 vertebrae, I just for the life of me remember what this kind of problem is cause, my pain relief is Nortriptyline and Tramadol, I hate Nortriptyline the side effects arn't good but it works well as a pain killer, catch 22 or what.

Hi minky not sure I will have to ask GP but I don't really want to as I give him enough grief as it is, I tried stopping Nortriptyline the other day and by god was is it painful, all I know is I have a fully fussed C2/C3 and partial C6/C7 the last one gets stuck sometimes and I have to crack it to get it to work, funny but when I do this it doesn't hurt, it also gives me numbness in my hands and fingers from time to time. oh the joys of getting old!
