afternoon everyone!... Quick question if you dont mind, I've heard talk of "skin nodules" could anyone tell me what they are and what they look/feel like please - I have a couple of little "lumps" under the skin on my hand, very small and just wondered if it was nodules or nothing!
:)
Thank you

Karen

    Hi Karen,

They sound like nodules to me. They appear on your joints (mainly the hands) with arthritis. They do differ in size and most are only temporary, a few can be painful.

I had a large one on my coccyx (base of spine) which was painful and I couldn't lie on my back to sleep. My rheumy offered to refer me for it's removal but we decided, first, to see how it went and it did go of it's own accord. I have a few small ones on my knuckles and finger joints, they've been there a long time but don't bother me, they're just unsightly.

    Hope this helps.

Thanks for your reply - they really are only tiny, barley noticable really but thought thats what they may be. The one on your back must have been really painful!... I'm still waiting for a def diagnosis and i'm seeing the rheumy on the 29th of this month. Whats really getting to me the last couple of days is my joints cracking, esp my feet every time i move!... I feel about 90!

Hope you have a good weekend

    Thanks again

Please feel free to 'moan', we understand how you feel and you shouldn't compare your situation to others as your pain is what you're having to deal with and lets face it, pain in any form makes us all feel rubbish.

When you are resting you could try preventing the pins and needles by gently flexing your feet and trying to move them, it can help keep the circulation.

If you have any worries at all, please ask.

I'm having a lovely weekend, thanks.

Thanks for understanding - I think i fret a bit as i haven't had a firm diagnosis yet so feel a little in limbo as it were!.. I will try the flexing and see if it helps, thanks for that advise :)

I went back to my GP yesterday as the inside of my index finger and top of that knuckle has been numb for 2 months now (like touching it thro a glove?) and i'm getting a little worried about nerve damage, but he just said well i dont no what i can do you'll have to wait to see the rheumy!.. not much help really!..

Its so good to have people that understand, my family is great but... well i'm sure you know!

Try not to worry Karen, it's not long till you see your Rheumy and he should be able to answer any worries you have.

We always advise, on here, to start writing down a list of questions you might have for him/her, today, because you might sit there and your mind goes blank. I take a list in with me every time and a pen to jot down what he says in case I forget. Some Rheumy's don't like lists but I give mine no choice  but then I am rather assertive  I hope you get a good one and also a firm diagnosis, sometimes it's good to have a label so we know what we're up against. :|

Alot of people have made the same comment as you about family being great but we're the folk with the real empathy.

    Keep smiling k010.gif

I have started a list of questions as i have noticed people saying that on here - I'm also keeping a "diary" of how i feel each day - bet my rheumy is gonna love me!!!

Its hard for the family to understand i think, yesterday after dinner i just came over very strange and had to go and lay down for an hour - no choice just had to do it!... My partner and the children just hovered at the bedroom door looking confused  - Bless them...

I'm taking my Mum with me to the app so i dont forget everything as soon as i walk out of the room!..

    Thanks again

Hi Karen For the last few weeks I have been writing in a notebook how I feel each day and giving myself a score of between 1 and 10. It saves remembering when different parts of the body hurt! I also take my husband into my appointments with me, as being the patient, I dont think you can always remember everything that is said, plus I keep a list of queries to ask the next time.

    Hope all goes well.

    Love Angiex
