Pain clinics

I've heard, on other boards (mainly for fibromyalgia) that some people get referred to pain clinics. Has anyone here been to one, specifically for arthritis? I'm finding it hard to deal with my pain right now, all I want to do is sleep or cry. It's making me very miserable.

Hi Princess,
I see one now and saw one back long and it does help with the pain. Mine is for arthritis and they seem to understand pain quite well and how to help. Its probably worth asking for a referral and see what they can suggest for you. Good luck Cris0 -
I am going to one on Friday...i hope they can help me!! :?0

I have found pain clinics useful and helpful. Had meds prescribed which I did not use in the end and also injections in neck and lower back which helped me immensely.

Hi, Yes, I go to a pain clinic. I've only been twice so far so can't say I'm an expert, but they are very friendly and helpful. Its nice, too to see someone who is just focused on your pain and not anything else about you.
I think with long term illness that is causing a lot of pain, they are certainly worth going to.

Although I was not very impressed with the doctor I saw in the pain clinic, the follow up appointment with the nurse was a little bit productive.
On the whole, I do not think the one that I went to was as good as some of the others I have read about.
