My injections have usually worked immediately but others on here have waited some time before it has all kicked in. Hopefully someone else will answer your thread soon.
I hope your injections work for you very soon.

Hi Bluebeard,
I had one in my knee which worked over a several days I think. The one in my shoulder gave me almost immediate relief, 15mins! but didn't totally work as I still had quite limited movement but better than before. However, I probably shouldn't tell you this but the first one in my shoulder didn't do a thing and that's because it wasn't in the right place (they told me it was a 'diagnostic' injection, ie. they didn't really know what the problem was!) Hope it works soon.

Mine took a couple of weeks before I felt much better. I don't know if it's normal or not for it to take that long but it definitley did help....in the end!0

Hiya
I have had one in my lower back and that didnt work at all, and last year I had one in my hip and that didnt have any effect either, apparently some people they work on and others they dont I must be one of the unlucky ones.
Hope yours works for you let us know how you get on with it.

Hi Bluebeard,
Nice to met you first. Some of my injections have been instant and some take a bit of time. A lot get worse before they get better for me now a days. I don't get cortisone in my neck but I did have one to see if it helped in my lumber and that didn't seem to work till I realised it wasn't as bad about 2 weeks in. I hope you can get some answers and help though for your pain. Take care Cris0 -

Hi Bluebeard,
For me it depends on which joint is injected. Knees, brilliant, immediate and lasted for 8 months  Elbows took a couple of days but lasted a long time too but shoulders not as effective.
As Sally said it might depend whereabouts in your ankle the injection was put ...maybe they might put it in another site to see if that helps ...it might be worth discussing with your Rheumy before he does it to see if he thinks it makes a difference.

Is that because of it dispersing in the joint? ......or did he not explain why it should take as long as a month?
