crikey there is no wonder you are feeling low.

hope the drinks are more palatable these days than they were when my mum had to have them.

    Thanks for the hug wonky,

Well they are a new experience! I was given, caromel, chocolate, banana, strawberry, vanilla .. caramel made me wanna be sick and i dislike banana's anyway.

But the chocolate and Strawberry are nicer than the others i just make sure i have a glass of water to hand after drinking them!

Oh poor you. :( What type of supplements are taking? I used to take Ensure and found the vanilla ones to be quite nice actually! Being severely underweight and malnourished can definitely affect you cognitively and make you more depressed, so you may find your mood starts to pick up in time. I really hope it does. I feel for you and I'm sorry you're suffering so much. xx

Hello, I'm sorry that you are feeling bad. When I was at work we could get Ensure and Enlive, one was milky the other a fruit juice based drink, but both had high callories. Also we used to be able to have tins of soup in the Ensure range, which smelt and looked the same as others and people used to like these.

I don't know if this infromation is any use to you, but, if you need a change, it may not hurt to find out. Also they do a thick yogurt.

I tell you what, I'll send you some of the extra pounds I put on at Christmas! Feel better soon, love Sue xxx

    Hi Madnees
I am so glad you have posted. We are here for each other and would want to support you through this.

I have been having jaw problems wich really doesn't hlp as chewing hurts eh? :( All the softer things don't seem so nice.
Deprtession steals the appetite too. Did you say you are on meds for it?? I hope the depression lifts a bit soon and then your appetite may well come back with it.
    You take care
    Love

Hi madness1985, my sympathise can’t be easy for you, I have been having problems with my jaw but nowhere near the level you have been having, depression can kill apatite as it is but with a really bad jaw it’s got to no be fun as it is, let alone if you throw in depression with it, are you on anything like Prozac for your depression?.
Oh one last thing where did you get the handle madness from, is it the group madness you took it from, and why 1985?.

    Hi All,

Thank you for your messages of support. As for my name, madness is because my friends always say im mad as a hatter and 1985 is the year i was born!

Im on a milky type which is called Fortisip. I am trying my best with them although the taste is most off putting. Im on 20mg prozac at the moment.

Im not feeling any better to be honest but it has really messed me up because i was sleeping a little to excessivly 26hours in 2 days. However now with the energy drinks im lucky if i get an hour because my body is literally full of energy. I am trying to have hot baths before bed ect to try and help me feel. My joints are aching because they are of course yerning sleep and rest yet my body as whole can not sleep.

My GP suggested home made soup so my kind partner has been making soup for me full of veg that i like. This has of course been lovely but with my wrists/hands swollen i feel like a baby .. i just can not get anything right.

I feel like a child, i crnt eat soup i get it every were i crnt eat bigger meals cuz i crnt chew it and to top it all off i crnt even cut my own food up .. none of which is helping me out at the moment.

I just feel quite alone at the moment there is so many things that are not helping me. I can no longer take my steroids because i have a heart condition and it could harm me as ive been taking them so long. I am still taking my other drug but to be honest it just isnt working for me .. i just feel like one big massive mess up in my life.

    Sorry for the long post,,

    xx

    ((((Gentle hugs))))

Another suggestion for you is fruit smoothies, as you said you liked the vegetable soups.

I'm so sorry you're in such a bad place. I wish I had some more advice but you're not alone, we're always here for you.

    Hi Madness

Are you having your soup in a bowl then as you say that you get it everywhere and cant eat it? Have it in a cup and a straw, you can adapt. I cant cut up my food either and my hubby has to feed me.

Smoothies are a good idea, blend the soup so that it is smooth and add cream if you can to get calcium etc.

Fortisip is not the best supplement, get ensure and enlive as posted before, there is a bigger range of these and taste much better (tried and tested).

You need to get calories so drink fruit juice, porridge, soft food and get other half to feed you, humiliating I know but how else are you going to eat?

Chin up, we know how it is and you are not alone in this. Keep posting, its good to know that you are as bad as me, strange thought, but at least I dont feel as though I am the only one who feels like you do.

    Hiya,

I hadnt though about using a straw thats a very good idea thank you :) I just find it hard to accept the changes.

My partner has smoothies ive never thought about trying them as never been a fan of fruit, maybe i should. We brough some cream today to add some of the soups my partner though it would be nice.

I shall speak to my gp next week about ensure or enlive because im finding fortisip impossible to tolerate the tastes.

I am trying to eat soft food and put some verity into my diet but im not getting very far, if you have any suggestions Janie id apreicate it. It is hard to ask my partner to feed me i get really upset because i feel so dependent and i feel bad as my oh wants togo back into f/t work and i feel i am resticting my partner and that upsets me.

Janie it is good to know some one else is the same as me too i feel like im the only one and feel isolated and lonly the depression isnt helping me hopfully things will improve when the anti-deps kick in and i can think more positive.

    xx

    Hi Madness,
I am so sorry you are feeling down, its nowounder, my brother had trouble eating, so I would make him ommelets, sorry cant spell it.
Anyway he would have a 3 egg one, eggs and milk are all protein and good at putting weight on, and quite soft.
You keep coming on here for all the support you need.
    Gentle hugs ((((((())))))

    hi

sorry to hear your having such a tough time, with regard to your weight, i lost lots of my weight with my last flare and struggled to put it back on with just normal eating alone. i have to say that i did put most of it back on over christmas as i eat ALL the chocolate in the house, i eat my son's and daughter and ofcourse all of mine too!
i would suggest the suziev diet of chocolate (make it into liquid if needs be) and full fat milk hot chocolate.
it's not easy to gain weight i know and of course a balanced diet would be ideal but it's the high calorie content that is needed.
good luck and i do hope you get sorted soon
    suzie x
