Hi all i'm going into hospital this week for (Yttrium Synovectomy) as i have OA in knees i'm a little scared as it is radioactive injections, also i had a synovectomy in 08 and developed a DVT&PE needless to say the synovectomy didn't work and this is my last option before KR.i have had OA for 14 years my knee is constantly swollen with fluid and looks mashed.i'm constantly tired but this could be due to the fact i'm aneamic lack in B12,i have a very supportive husband & 4 children i say children their grown up now and left home apart from 1. i bet my husband wonders what the hell he married.and i'm only41 they get me through each day.has anyone else had this procedure i no it is pretty rare but thought i would ask. :?: :?: :?:

    Hi

Just wanted to wish you good luck. I hope all goes well for you.

Sorry I cannot help with the proceedure, but I do know very well the dvt's and pe's. i have had a lot of those. I should think they will give you Heparin to stop that from happing again.

Do you not get B12 injections for this problem? It would help you if you do not. Why don't you talk to the hospital or your doctor.

Well, once again Good luck, I really hope it all goes well for you.

    Hi Tandel

Welcome to the forum. I just wanted to wish you all the very best with this and hope that you will let us know how you get on. I have a feeling that perhaps this is not performed so much as other procedures and I think some of us, especially, would be most interested to know more about it.

It is good to hear that you have a supportive husband - that makes everything so much easier to cope with. 4 children, you have had a busy life then!:) I love my 2 children (now flown the nest for some time) but that was enough for me!!

Hope to hear more from you,

    Luv
    Elna x

    Hi,

I'm sorry i can't help with your knee. I do have pernicious anemia/B12 deficiency had this for a few years. Mines seems a bit out of control at the moment and I am going for more tests. Do you get the injections, these used to be a real boost to me (not at the moment). Did they tell you the cause of the B12 defeiciency it isn't always something to worry about it could be you are eating the wrong foods?

Unfortunatly fatigue is a side affect of both illnesses. If you need any info, just ask.

    Hi Tandel
Don't be scared fingers crossed it will work for you. Like yourself I've been complaining about pain in my knees for a number of years and been misdiagnosed with sciatica. Now that both knees are shot I'll have my first KR next month. It took a lot of pushing for them to do more xrays in June 09 to see how much the knees had deteriorated.

I don't have any experience of what you've got to go through but will keep fingers crossed for you. You're lucky to have a caring family. Your husband is lucky to have you!

    With regards
