Yes! Definitely, and I find around the time I ovulate I often have a flare but not full blown if you know what I mean.0
-
Yes I do hun. Thank you for replying, I was beginning to think I was becoming even more abnormal lol0
-
hi yes have noticed it as well not a flare exactly but every thing worse . some days wish i was a bloke lolval0
-
Absolutly! I may not have RA but my Fibro gives me `flare-ups' also. And every `time of the month' im almost psycho - a green, bogg-trotting monster that my mother has to `deal' with. Not good.Heatherxx0

Lol - I too wish I was a bloke at times. I mentioned it to my Rheumy consultant and all she uttered was " hmmmm " . Great exactly what I want to hear - NOT! My daughter attended the Lupus Centre in London and her consultant asked her if her flare ups got worse during menstruation, maybe there is something there ?????
Heather, I too have Fibromyalgia and is bloody horrid. When I wake up stiff or aching I never know which is it lol - could be the loopy (lupus) or fibi (fibro..) or the others.
Do any of you ladies try anything during the monthly times such as eating something diff, ointments etc. If you do let me know what works.
Thanks

Chile 168. I personally favour to`hit my head reapeatedly' and when Im bored with that, the nearest persons to me!
Ha, the joys of `that time of the month' girls. Don't you just love the day before you start which you spend weeping uncontrollaby? Or the cravings followed by ad nauseam? Or the compulsion to `spring clean everything' including the dogs? Or the week before when going near any form of furniture store or pharamacist is just asking for trouble? I'm also perimenipausal and due on later this week. Already I look 6 months pregnant and as for the chemist thing, I did that yesterday when I came back with `another' selection of pamaper treats and another bottel of perfume. I bought Diesel, fuel for life unlimited edp and 2 diesel body moisterisers in the sale and then went to Boots and brought thier `extract of irish moss bubble bath' that I decant into a pump despencer and use in the shower! Sixty quid later and counting and no Tampax yet ! :roll:0 -
I've been noticing this (only diagnosed a few months ago) I get even more pain about a week before I'm due on, and then throughout and for about a week after, basically 3/4 of the month lol, great isn't it!0

Ah, but the biggest laugh was my late husband Ronnie when still in my 30's he `knew' before I did - I was too busy looking after him and the home to pay too much attention! Being ex-serviceman, those of you who are familier with the `lads mentaltiy' will know that they can be, how shall I say, a bit raucus and over the top and I had married an expert joker! Well it was egg on my face the day he `wound me up' once too often when slicing onions and I went after him with the carving knife! He hobbeld at `high speed' laughing (the swine) into the bedroom and bolted the door as I r-a-g-e-d at him through it! I thought he was never going to stop chorteling! The Git. I then develped this silent , withering `LooK' that said `danger, unexploded bomb' and he knew it was safer to head for the hills - well the Welsh hills as we lived on the boarder of North Wales...ah, true love! Hi all,
From what I've learnt over the years RA is estrogen based, that's why more women are affected than men.
...so when we have a period our estrogen levels are all over the shop and this is why we feel cr*p when we're ovulating and/or on a period.

Ah legs, so as Firomyalgia is closley `relaited' to RA, then this too might be estrogen based, which would also explain why far many more women get Fibro than men and seem to devlelop this from the age of about 40's just when hormoneal changes are beginning, as in the case of RA, or if you have a `fortunate face' both! What joy! Heatherxx
But its no point going on Hormone Replacemnt patches ect as we have a pre-disposition to developing `breast cancer' in my family - maybe they should give us progestorone and instead of growing a `moustochio' I could grow a `blue beard'?0 -

....nah don't go with a blue beard it would limit you in your choice of frocks
the estrogen thing also explains why women are prone in the major hormone swings of their life ....puberty, childbirth and menopause.

So laughing my head off gals!
1. Estrogen - I cannot have HRT as Im more at risk of thrombosis
2. Psychotic - definitely around period -
3. Someone mentioned 3 heads - yep been looked at like that by rheumy when I mentioned it.
4. Facial hair - if the age don't bring it on the steroids will
Hmmmmmm not much of a choice really.
Ok if it isn't enough that the SLE, Fibro, RA and IBS affected me, I then get told that Im perimenapausal waiting for the big event and when my eyes are affected , I get told welcome to the 40's. What's next ?????0 -
Hi
Before I was diagnosed with OA I had serious problems with my monthly which was heavy and sometimes lasted 6 weeks. I was on medication which made me feel worse and the pain in my back and legs was terrible. It sapped my energy/strength and made me miserable. I couldn't go to work and the only relief from the agony was to take painkillers, a hot bath and go to bed. I had a couple of ops - the last one is what they call the new hysterectomy where the lining of the womb is zapped with microwave technology. It eventually stopped my monthly curse. I was never given the results of blood test/x rays on my painful joints by my previous doctor so went around in pain for years. It was only a move of house 3 years ago and a new doctor who said I had arthritis.
I often wonder how many women with heavy periods are eventually diagnosed with arthritis.

Phewwwwwwwwwww Im am normal from reading other comments lol.
Was about to jump up and down in excitement then realised my bones hurt to much.
LINDALEGS,
Thanks for reminding me that wrinkles comes next lol just the vote of confidence I need to add to the limp, grey hair (dyed) and blurry vision - thank HUN XXXXX
LOL LOL LOL @ lindalegs0 -
The `balding' limp, grey rooted hair! Ive got a slection of wigs when Im having a `no-hair' day and a selection of hats for the rest.
And for gods sake girls, keep off that olay crap. Try, L'oreal as `your worth it' instead. Although Boots do a good range thats reasonable and then there's always Elizabeth Ardens 8 Hour cream!
they do a hand version too.
My personal preferance is `plaster of paris'.0 -
Hi ladies
For the past 3 years I've found the best face cream ever and it's from Lidl at only £1.99 a pot it's great. They do a range of day cream and night cream. I've tried everything from Body Shop, L'Oreal, Oil of Olay etc and this is definitely the best. Soaks in nicely etc. Not embarrassed at all to tell you about this as I used to spend £10 -£15 a go on face cream that only lasted a month and really wasn't as good as Lidl's.

Laughing so much - struggled to pick my self up from the floor.
We started with period and we are now on wigs and cream - brilliant!
Agreed have tried Lidl's and they are good - cheap too. Loreal - think that is the one I use - will look at boots range.
Countessheather, you got a Tina Turner wig? I have always like the rock chic look.
Look forward to the next comment pmsl.

lol Sharmaine,
I will stick to wigs, creams and period cos sex life almost non existent. I used to joke with ex-hubby how we would both wake up stiff - just different reasons
Eve0 -
Ah, now chilli pepper that was my next question. Sharmaine, I too have the LIDLE Shahuda, but THE `BASKETS' NEVER RESTOCK this and a brilliant body lotion thats olive oil based - Cien-and THEY DONT GET THAT IN EITHER - liddle Witney, Shmiddle Witney!
And now for `NO SEX PLEASE, WE'RE CRUMBELLIE AND ITS ALL IN THE MIND'.
Did ANYBODY get offered ANY sex advice when they were diagnosed and saw their RHUMY ?
We are now entering a TABBOO subject`Disabled people hump and bump in the night'.
Why is it that society is insitant on turning all disabled people into eunucs? (For those who remember that far back, Germaine Greer and the `Female Eunuc' otherwise Google that one)?
Not content with making us un-paid slaves they want us A-Sexual as well -David Dimbelby SLAVERY is alive and well in the UK!0 -
Hi
I try and make the effort to look nice - make up, smellies on. I'm still a woman who likes to be feminine. I'm pleased he still finds me desirable despite the fact that I have trouble walking and he's had to take on a lot of things around the home. We're still human even though we have this horrid condition which leaves us with distorted limbs, huge discomfort and pain. OH has a wonderful gift of humour - he's the only person - apart from my sister -who can make me laugh until my sides ache.
Keep slapping on that cream!
