Any suggestions to get rid of it? Its caused by my pregnancy (now two thirds of the way through!) but it's keeping me awake. It gets worse when I'm lying down or sitting but I'm meant to be resting as my RA is flaring and out of control. On the days that my RA is behaving better my back is killing me - how is that fair??

Any suggestions for helping it would be extremely gratefully received!

Aw, you poor love. I had forgotten but on reading some letters I wrote to my mum and dad, about 30 years ago  I see that I too suffered from sciatica with my second babe. I was told it was the babe lying on a nerve. Very helpful for me, at the time, to know that!

I have had sciatica off and on for one year now so know exactly how you are feeling with it. In December I had a couple of injections in my lower back via the pain clinic and so far so good :D Early days though but I live in hopes that it has gone for ever!

I used a heated wheatbag for the butt pain when sitting or lying which was comforting and I found that helped me.

I hope it does not last too long for you. Soon you will have a precious baby to look after. :D

    Luv

The happiest people don't have the best of everything. They just make the best of everything.

If you can lay down at night knowing in your heart that you made someone's day just a little bit better, you know you had a good day.

Hi, I've never been able to have children, but I've heard lots of friends complain of this! I think the only solution is to have the baby!!! Sorry, I have a wierd sense of humour. I'm sure a lovely, beautiful baby will help you to forget the pain you're in now. I think cuddling babies is one of the best pain cures and I envy you the time ahead. The best of good luck! Lots of love Sue

my friend is pregnant about as far a long as you and having problems with her back. she went to mothercare and got a special back cushion and said that has helped lots. also have you got a belly belt? this is meant to help with your back too. other thing i would try is getting baby into a different postion.
my heart goes out to you it is awful to be preganat and have a flare, i've been there.
    love suzie x

Thanks for the replies, I'll look into the belly belt and support cushion. I don't think my back is helped by our old sofa which is collapsing and needs eventual replacing but we can't afford it yet.
I slept a bit better last night with a cushion between my knees and a hot water bottle on my back. I'm looking for wheat bags - any suggestions where I would find them? - as I'm reliant on hubbie to undo and fill water bottle.
Advise from the physio this morning was to watch my posture. Not extremely helpful but he was meant to be looking at my shoulder instead!

Hope you are having a good week.

    Hi Jenzie
Glad you slept better - I sleep with the pillow between knees and hot water bottles are good. You can get wheaties at chemists but often markets sell them cheaper.
(My back hurts all the time I think, but I don't feel it when RA flaring coz it hurts more?)
    Love
