Hi Everyone,

Im thinking about getting a DVD on Tai Chi which is meant to improve the immune system. It's a gentle exercise as Im sure you all know.

Have any of you done Tai Chi or any form of gentle exercises to improve muscle and movement?

Im not sure how much I will be able to do but willing to try it.

Eve x

    HI

I do T'ai Chi ...I have been learning the Lee Family Arts (LFA) style for a couple of years or more. That style is particularly aimed at health and wellbeing rather than the martial arts side of things.

I go to a class each week, and I must say that it is the first form of exercise where I feel somewhat 'normal' in a group - as it particularlly asks you to focus on listening to your body and only doing what you are able to on that day.

For me it has been a great way to relax, to exercise and to have fun. It is much better in a group than on my own at home though!

I would say that I have got a lot of help from my instructor on how to adapt particular moves safely, and that would be my only concern with learning from a DVD .... maybe if you looked there might be a class near you.

    hope that helps

there are all sorts of different parts to it ... there is 'The Form' which is the basic T'ai Chi movements that most people think of, then I am doing the nunchucks as well & I have to do that in the garden as I break all the ornaments if I am indoors and the dog thinks they are for her to play with :lol: there is the stick, the silk, I think there is dance too ........ so lots for you to look at and make you smile

Not sure what my neighbours think of me when outside.... but I am not going out in this weather so I'll have to wait to find out :lol::lol::lol:

    Wonkylegs,

I did enquire about a local group which I would love to join but I can't afford it the moment as Im not working so DVD is gonna have to be.

I won't be using the sticks as I drop things. Only the other morning, I was holding a cup of tea and next it was on the floor, tea splattered everywhere including my pyjamas, looked like I'd peed myself. lol.

    Bertyboy,

lol - I can just imagine your neighbours but at 5:30 Im still asleep and would not do it in the garden. Have very nosy neighbours a bit like you

    Valval,
Hun please let me know how it goes, name of book, author and ISBN no lol. Seriously, would love to know how it goes for you, I just want something basic to improve my bubble wrap noises.

    Love x

    Eve
