Happy Xray Outcome

After finally having an Xray on my hips, I was allowed to view the results and can put my mind at rest re their condition. The degree of immobility and pain I was getting day in and day out together with the Chiropractitioners opinion of OA in my spine anyway was leaving me feeling a bit depressed to say the least.
There was no narrowing of the gap between the hip joints and my pelvis, although it was interesting to see where the bursitis is being a nuisance. Together with this discomfort and the 'referred' pain from trapped nerves in my spine, he said that it was no wonder I was in so much pain. I was to carry on with the chiropractitioner (pity I cannot get it on the NHS) and use cold packs to bring the inflammation down around my hips. It should get better in time.
I refused some morphine tablets you put under your tongue. I am on Tramadol SR twice a day with paracetamol inbetween. At the present time I am sleeping OK and don't want anything to upset my pattern.
The chiro sessions have also helped the numbness and tingling in my hands apart from one finger. Chiro will only help OA and no other forms of arthritis so having PA and RA I am bound to have the occasional flare ups when it will be difficult to define the pain. I was instructed not to go swimming at this stage. I could undo all the good work that has been done with my neck and spine so far.
He was pleased I was losing weight. This will go some way to improving my situation. And at last he is taking the pain in my head seriously and has or will be arranging a scan, if only to put my mind at ease, again. He can see the swelling now and bruising so the sooner I know what is happening the better.

    Thanks toni
I think is need a cuppa now see you in the cafe

If only everyone can come away feeling as though they are getting somewhere.

I am lucky, I have a lovely consultant. I would certainly advise anyone to take their spouses in with them if possible or close friend. They have to live with you and know probably better what you are going through.

The usual question I get is'How often are you in pain' so I start to say now and again, when probably it is all the time, OH comes in and tells it as it is. If you cannot take anyone in with you, write it all down.

    That's good news Joy!!

Good luck with the scan too.

Shame about the chiro, I'm sure you can get osteopathy on the NHS in some areas now. Maybe one of these years, eh?

    Luv, Lynn xxx

It's not fair is it? Osteopathy is not good for OA My gp said that he did not want me having that and would rather I had the chiro.

    HI Joy,

do glad that your appointment had a positive outcome .... it is so much better when they talk with us about our concerns rather than just telling us how they see it isn't it?

good luck & well done on the weight loss. :D

    Thanks.
Only problem now is my OH thinks there isnothing wrong with my hips. He looked at the XRays and there is no sign of rubbing ball joint on the pelvic area. That looks good, but it doesn't show you where the arthritis is or the bursitis or inflammation caused by referred pain. This could be caused by the problems with my spine which the chiropractitioner may be able to help with. I hope so.

And also, the consultant must be aware of how much pain I am in because he offered me the morphine medication you can get in patches. I had problems trying to keep the patches to stick. They alsocaused a lot of blistering. Apparently you put these morphine tablets under the tongue. I refused them because I felt I was coping alright with the Tramadol and Pregabelin. He said I could ring him if I changed my mind. I'll see whatthe next 2 wks brings with chiro sessions and try putting cold compresses on.
Why oh why do we spend a lifetime (it seems) trying to get relief from pain. I just do not want to spend my day feeling like a zombie. with the meds.
