Hi Bluebeard,
Fairly sure they are a different family. I find the co codomols not too helpful and the tramadol does actually do more but we are all different. Take care Cris0 -
sounds about right co codamol works great for me when i take it lolval0

thanks guys
I am on 30mg co codomol0 -
co-codamol is opiate (derived from opium poppy) Tramadol is synthetic, as I understand it man made version, I get "interesting" experience if I take them too close to each other, now just on Co-codamol (8 daily) plus oral morphine.

I started off on Tramadol and after 3 years became immune to it so was given Co Codomol. Their must be some difference as the Co Codomol is working. Wonder if I will become immune to that, if they put me back on tramadol.

I prefer the Tramadol SR. The co-codomols cause terrible constipation. Since being on Tramadol I haven't had need of any co-cos.

Hiya Bluebeard, I take tramadol when required, tramadol is classed as an opiate not in the same group as co-codomol. Try the arc website , loads of uptodate info about RA, latest treatments and more. p.s. I find tramadol very effective.

where is this website ?
thanks0 -
I've tried both, and oralmorph...
Co-codamol worked for me, but i found i was taking too many to get the same effect as before (yes 30mg).....
As above same family of painkillers just slightly different, what ever works for you.
Im off co-codamol...and been put on Gaberpentin, Diazepam, MST 10mg and Amitryptalin .and it is taking time to readjust...feeling tired all the time.....
But my doc is about to try something new with me....because all the above are messing up my life. Yes they take away the chroninc spasms and pain, but the combined side effects suck.....
But the cocodamol was messing me up too, id been on it for years....and it stopped working.........
Now im being asked to take trial on SativX....and come off all the combined meds...not sure what Sativx is and if it will work...tooo scared to be in pain to say yes at the moment.
My doctor told me, it can take time to find the right combination of meds to get at the pain......anbd sometimes it could be just one tablet that makes all the difference....
In my case it was Gaberpentin and Diazepam, MST..and as above..
Im still in pain...and every other day a new pain crops up..ill shut up now....rambling...
Nice to see everyone here again

I have taken Tramadol before but suffered fatuigue more on it so swapped to co-codomols which I find work for the moment!! I did ask to go on SR tramadol for night time but they gave me really bad and I mean bad migraine!!!!!! So now on something else - dihydrocodine - which are making me more constipated than co-codomols did but are really effective. When I take 1 at night, I find in the mornings I am not so stiff or in pain!! I also feel like getting up!!!!
I think the pain killers work differently for everyone in their own way!!!

Hi, I find the best pain killer for me is tramadol slow release, I take 200 mgs in the morning and the same 12 hours later, they really do seem to last the best part of 12 hours. The pain clinic advised the slow release.
Its like everything though, what works for me dosn't for you! :? Why can't life be easy, with one drug for pain that works on EVERYONE with all pain! Too much to ask!!!
Love Sue0 -
thanks all xxx0
