At the minute I seem to have it everywhere but Im having a flare, its easing up a bit now though. I have my first rhuemy apointment in the morning and wondering whether to tell them about all my joints and sound like a whinge...I have it in my hips, knees, feet, hand (other hand is starting now) shoulders, my jaw and back hurt, and even round the back of my shoulder blades now. Does anyone else get it here? It hurts sometimes when I breathe.
What joints do you have that are affected?

From jaw to little toe

....you should tell them which joints are affected, you won't seem like a whinge, they're used to hearing from people having flares. If you don't tell them they won't be able to help....and that's what they're there for.

    Hope it goes well.

    Hi Wendy,

Right there with you..... its quicker to say where it isn't either confirmed or suspected.....

I have to say tell the Rumo everything thats going on cus then they can sift through and use the bits relevant to help get a handle on it. It really wont sound like your a whinge. Hey good luck and if you have a list of questions it will help remind you what you wanted to ask. Take care Cris

    Hi Wendy

Sorry you are feeling awful at the moment. You must tell the Rheumy about every joint, he/she wont think you are a whinge, but they can use the info you give them to help you.

I have RA and sometimes in a bad flare every single joint hurts, and my muscles too, my knees are the worst affected, it never seems to shift from my knees.

Good luck with the appointment and let us know what happens.

I have Spinal Stenosis which means that the whole of my spine from neck to bum inclusive can and does hurt, though the pregabalin that I take means I can live with it most of the time. Both thumbs are arthritic too. I'm sorry that you are having a bad time at the moment and hope it all settles down for you very soon.

    Hi Wendy

Sorry to hear that you're having a flare - it's a nuisance when that happens.

I have OA in both knees, right shoulder and hands.

    Hope you feel better soon.

Thats the mystery of this illness. It affects everyone differently, at different times and different joints.
Like many people on this forum it affects many of my joints but it seems to be like a roulette table. Imagine instead of numbers you had joints spin the wheel and hey presto thats the joint that hurts today. I never know what joint is going to be affected or get advance notice it just starts. I like many I think wish for a crystal ball not to take the illness away but to make it more predictable and easier to handle.
There is nothing worse than in the morning your fine and dandy then 4hours later your in complete agony.
I think the only joint not to be affected yet is my toes but I still think the jaw is the worst pain.

I'm sorry you're in a lot of pain. I agree with the others, you're not whining, you need to tell your rheumy where it hurts so you can be helped. You shouldn't have to be in so much pain.

I have arthritis in my hands, wrists, feet and ankles. I'm praying it will get under control soon, I was only diagnosed a couple of months ago.

Take care & hope you feel better soon.

Hi, You should tell the Rheummy all the places you hurt, as it is important to making a diagnosis. I have arthritis in my neck & lumber spine my hips, fingers, wrists elbows and now my ankles and knees join in from time to time! The only time they are all really bad at the same time is when I have a flare, like last week, usually they all hurt a bit, but, one will be worse than the others, they take turns!

Hows that for a whinge!

Hope your appointment went ok Wendy.

As everyone else has pointed out.... make sure you tell the rheumy about ALL of the pain you are experiencing not just the joints that are flaring up. At my last appt I said that it was quicker to tell them about the joints that didn't hurt!!!
Mainly having probs with toes, fingers, wrists and back at the moment but who knows which ones will be painful next week.... my body likes to keep me guessing!!!!

Hope you are feeing brighter soon!
