I am 29 years and i suspect I have OA in my left knee. I am due to have an MRI scan next saturday. Will the scan reveal all, or will I need a x-ray as well, or should I have had an x-ray first?

As I understand it, an MRI shows up much more detail than an xray. It will show OA for sure if that is what the problem is.

    Hi there

I had x ray first and it was pretty clear; showing OA in lumbar spine, but this was followed up by an MRI scan to see if there was any further damage anywhere else along the whole length of my spine. I think the scasn was done to show if there was any narrowing of the spinal canal or any nerve impingement as an MRI can show this much more clearly. Luckily there wasn't.
