I saw my rheumy 2 weeks ago and because one of my ankles was really bad, he sent a referral for an ultrasound guided cortisone injection. I phoned the hosp today and the waiting list is another 6 weeks. I'm in so much pain. Did anyone else have to wait a long time for theirs?

    Hi Princess,
I have OA, and had to have these in my back, I was in shock when my appointment came for three months......I pleaded with mu GP and got it down to two, give it a try.
    Good luck
    And take care

Looks like my waiting list wasn't that long after all, compared to others. I phoned the hosp and they said they'd call me if there was a cancellation but the hosp is quite far away and I don't drive. Obviously, if I canget an earlier appt, I'll do anything to get there. I feel bad for complaining but I'm in so much pain and I can barely hobble to work. :?

I managed to get it booked for 10th March. It feels a long time away right now, given my pain but at least I've got an appt.

Did you have a general steriod injection into a muscle? I'm having mine directly into a joint and it needs to be done in the radiology dept, as it's ultrasound guided. Maybe that's why there was a wait for me and for others. :?:

Sorry, 3 months wait for me too! Have had it done twice on NHS and same wait both times. Mind you it gets put on the day case list and is done in theatre so I'm sure that is the reason. (Don't know why really though - it's only my foot, nothing complicated! Hope all goes well for you and you get some good relief from it. Best wishes, Josie
