needing to ask for help .... it's not all bad!

HI

well we have had an hillarious evening and I thought I'd share it with you to show that although there are times when we feel bad if we cannot do some things without asking for help ..... it doesn't need to feel so bad!

at the mo my wrists and hands are awful, and my shoulders are not much better so I am struggling with some basic things like looking after myself and in particular washing my hair.

Last week when i washed it I struggled on alone and only had to shout hubby to squeeze out the shampoo and conditioner   but I was absolutely shattered by the experience and it looked fairly rubbish when I'd finished because I had run out of arm strength so just let it dry however it chose to

Tonight I decided that I had to bite the bullet and ask for a lot more help, even though I had been dreading doing so, as I wanted to be able to wash my own hair! (pride is a dangerous thing!)

Hubby is good at following instructions and we got sorted with me sitting on a stool and leaning over the bath .... well ..... If I get funny looks from the neighbours tomorrow I will know that they could hear us both in hysterics :lol::lol::lol::lol: I can't remember the last time I laughed and laughed so much.

Every time hubby poured a jug of water over me it was so funny .... water everywhere and he was trying to be so careful too :lol::lol: and you wouldn't believe how odd it feels when you are not in charge of the water  ... you know when kids pretend to crack an egg on your head and their hands feel like egg sliding down your hair? well that is just what it felt like!:lol::lol::lol::lol:

so here I am sitting here now with dried hair (I got my hairdryer stand out and that was so much better :D ) and i almost feel human again :D:D we had such a laugh that we both 'enjoyed' getting wet and it won't be such a bad thing if I have to ask him to help next time

anyone else had an hillarious time asking for help?

I am really glad that you had a laugh,I think sometimes we all forget how to laugh and enjoy our selve's. I find it nice to hear someone is getting on well even tho they still have the pain. Its the little things that we all take for granted that become harder and harder to do. Good to have a partener to help and laugh with.

Hey he may be able to open up a salon

Loved your story Wonkylegs.... made me chuckle!!!

After letting my pride get in the way of asking for help for many years  ... I finally gave in and asked my hubby to help me with drying and combing my hair! It was really nice as he was much more gentle than I am and I felt very pampered!!! :D Not sure I'd want to let him loose with the water and shampoo as well though!!!:lol:

I didn't let him do it all ..... ....... he poured water and squeezed out shampoo etc ... I lathered and helped to rinse ..... it saved on my shoulders and I used half as much shampoo as usual, as I can either have all or nothing with my hands ...... no strength at mo for squeezing bottles. The place I get my shampoo from used to sell pump adapters for the bottles for a few pence extra but now they dont' and won't even let me buy some :x :x :x :x :x :x :x :x :x

Might write to them and suggest that they think of the DDA :!:
