At last I have got a date for my scan. Mon 15th Feb.
I am going to have a scan of my head. Maybe everything will be ok,
The Xrays on my hips proved OK.
For ages now I have had horrible pains across my head and over my left eye. There is also some swelling on the left side of my forehead and the left side of my face is quite swollen at times.
Anyway, my consultant said he would arrange a scan just to put my mind at ease.
Obviously he doesn't think there is anything wrong. So if the scan doesn't show anything, what is causing this distressing pain and swelling. At times it feels like shingles. And a constant shadow coming across my eye as if my eyelid is pressing down.

Could be plain tiredness maybe? After monday, I shall know.

Joy

    Thanks Sue
I'm sure it will be fine andI shall come away guilty about wasting peoples time again.
It's not much fun having these pains in my head though and would like an answer. Trouble is where do I go if nothing shows up. More tablets?

    Hi Joy
was just wondering can you move your face ok, both sides? blink and smile, raise eye brows etc?
my brother had Bells pulsie (dont think that is spelt right) and it affected one side of his face, but his face dropped, like someone who has had a stroke. he had pain and swelling too.
i doubt it is this as your doc would have spotted it but just a thought.
    good luck for monday

I'm pretty sure that it's not that. The swelling is quite pronounced and sore at the moment. It will turn into a headache tonight. It is beginning to affect my eye now. The vision from that eye is fairly blurred even with my glasses on, so yes. I am beginning to worry now.

    Hello,
Just to say that I'll think about you on Monday. Could it be some kind of cyst, I had one taken off the top of my head years ago. It was a sebacious??? Cyst. I had it done and then went straight home. Love Sue

This has cross my mind actually. Considering that I have blood tests each month, and not had any problems, I am somewhat reassured that it is nothing terrible, like a tumour. I'm not slurring my words, or doing stupid things, etc etc.
I have had a cyst removed from the corner of that eye many years ago.
    we shall see!

    Thanks guys.

You know what they say, There is nothing worse than worrying until there is something to worry about. Well, that is me at the moment.

If the scan doesn't show anything, where do I go from here.
You can see the lump, so there must be something. Hope it is only a cyst or something. Another referral to someone else then. Oh well. Shall be off in a moment.

See you all later and thanks for the good wishes.

I wanted to thank you all for your messages. I was thinking about them whilst waiting for my scan.

I had to go for my monthly blood test just beforehand and the woman who was taking it actually remarked on the lump even before I brought it up in conversation.

It is exactly as she says, something would have shown up as being wrong in the monthly blood tests, blood count and all that. So I am right in not being too concerned about anything major.

My only doubt is, if nothing shows up on the scan, then what on earth is it that is so painful, especially as it is affecting my vision now.
Hope it isn't brushed under the carpet. I would hate to lose my sight at a later date. It could be something being caused by all the meds I am taking, who knows.

I felt quite sick and dizzy when I came off the bed after the scan. Funny feeling
