A little rant

I'm new to the forum so I hope this is ok. I just need to have a little rant. I suffer with PA and to be honest it's the arthritis element that troubles me the most (skin has been more or less clear for a good number of years now). I've been on enbrel for nearly 6 years now and it's been a wonder drug for me. I have had the odd flare-up but nothing compared to what I'd suffered before being on it....until now. Two weeks ago Saturday I was involved in a car accident - it wasn't anything major, more like a shunt really (I was stationary and the car reversed into me). Since then my neck and back have flared up badly. The last time I had such pain in my neck was my early 20s (I'm 33 now). I've been to see my GP and he's said the flare up has been a result of the accident (he doesn't think it's whiplash) and has prescribed some stronger painkillers. I feel so fed up and frustrated. I know accident's happen in life but it always seems to be when things are going well (well for me anyway).
Anyway I just needed to get that off my chest. xxx

Hi Jackie,
Nice to meet you and a welcome from me, they are a nice lot here.
I think the shunt has jarred you up and well I would have thought it would be calming down now, although shock can bring about a flare.
Maybe as Lynn said a bit of physio etc could help but to be honest I think you might have to go back to the gp and have it looked at again. I really hope it will calm down for you soon and take care Cris0 -
Hi,
Welcome to the Forum!
I'm sorry you'r in such pain, but whiplash injuries are not hard to get. I had one years ago and had physio straight away, as my GP at the time, said that the sooner treatment starts, the more it works. So go and see your doctor.
Hope all is soon well for you,
Love Sue0 -
Hi Jackie
welocome to the forum from me too.
Feel free to rant - we all do and no apologies needed
Sounds awful you know that could still be whiplash - shunts do do that don't they? Mind you I expect the treatment would be very similar anyway.
I do hope you feel better very soon.
Love

Thank you the replies everyone. It does feel good to get thing off my chest. I've managed to get an emergency appointment with my Rheumatologist on the 24th of this month. In the meantime I started physio yesterday so hopefully I should be moving about a bit more soon. It's driving that I'm missing most. The pain does feel like an arthritis flare up (though I am getting tension pains between my shoulder blades as well). Ah well, life goes on. xxx0
